About The Position

Brighton Jones is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Managing Director (MD) of Growth - Company Retirement Plans for their OpenPlan/Retirement Plan Advisory team. This role will lead the expansion of the Retirement Plan Advisory (RPA) business, focusing on net new client acquisition, strategic partnerships, and building scalable growth teams. The MD will be a player-coach, driving revenue and positioning the firm as a market leader. This leadership role requires a growth-minded individual skilled in strategy, business development, and execution, partnering with other leaders to drive revenue and optimize operations. The OpenPlan team provides financial guidance for companies, teams, and individuals, offering retirement plans that employees value and engage with, backed by Brighton Jones’ wealth management experience.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in business development, growth strategy, or leadership roles within retirement plan advisory, institutional consulting, or related services.
  • Proven track record of driving significant revenue growth and closing business.
  • Deep understanding of B2B sales.
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on, execution-oriented mindset.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred expertise in retirement plan landscape (e.g., 401(k), fiduciary advisory, plan design, vendor ecosystem).
  • MBA, JD or other Graduate Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy for the Retirement Plan Advisory business.
  • Identify target markets, client segments, and priority growth channels.
  • Establish measurable goals and KPIs aligned with firm-wide growth objectives.
  • Continuously refine go-to-market strategies based on performance insights and market trends.
  • Lead direct business development efforts, including sourcing and closing new retirement plan clients.
  • Cultivate relationships with key centers of influence (e.g., CPAs, attorneys, recordkeepers, consultants).
  • Partner with senior advisors to drive pipeline development and win rates.
  • Represent the firm in industry events, conferences, and thought leadership forums.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing growth and business development team.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, advisory and client service teams for cross-functional alignment.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and client-centricity.
  • Partner with marketing to develop targeted campaigns and content strategies.
  • Strengthen the firm’s brand presence in the retirement plan advisory space.
  • Leverage digital and data-driven marketing approaches to accelerate growth.
  • Implement and oversee CRM and pipeline management best practices.
  • Analyze growth metrics and sales performance to inform decision-making.
  • Report regularly to executive leadership on progress, opportunities, and challenges.
