About The Position

In this role you will lead and expand our advisory and capital raising activities, driving strategic engagement with a broader range of smaller and mid-sized clients aligned with Guy Carpenter’s strategic goals. You will oversee origination and participation in diverse transactions across start-ups, MGAs, Insurtechs, Reciprocals, Regional, and Lloyd’s businesses in both primary and reinsurance markets, while leading advisory teams in London and New York to maintain a collaborative culture. This position will be based in either our Chicago or New York City office. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. We will count on you to: Consult with insurers, capital providers, and internal leaders on market trends and insights, portfolio positioning, and capital solutions. Act as lead technical advisory (including discussions on profitability and capital) colleague on M&A discussions. Develop an understanding of the clients’ or target business strategic priorities, risk strategies and risk management needs and provides advice accordingly to successfully inform buy and sell side evaluations. Utilize risk expertise and knowledge of industry and insurance market place to review clients’ or targets' exposures and loss experience and develop insights to inform structuring of deals. Manage regulatory environments and licensing restrictions with FCA and SEC, especially post-Brexit. Lead and mentor advisory teams in London and New York, fostering a close, collegiate, and collaborative culture. Navigate potential conflicts with broking businesses through high-level communication and stakeholder management. Assess, structure, and execute M&A and capital raising transactions including buy-side and sell-side deals, joint ventures, and new company formations. Project manage third-party service providers including legal counsel, actuarial firms, rating agencies, and other consultants. Support colleagues on ILS transactions and legacy solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 15+ years actuarial or insurance accounting or complex insurance product management experience that includes use of predictive modeling and/or capital modeling outputs.
  • Engagement with insurance companies, program managers, reinsurers, and investment banks including evaluation of balance sheets, marketplaces, and portfolios.
