Managing Director, Investment Solutions

BNY Mellon•New York, NY
•$136,500 - $300,000

About The Position

BNY is seeking a strategic, market-savvy, and commercially oriented Head of Investment Solutions within its Chief Investment Office (CIO). The leader will shape and drive the public-side investment solutions strategy, emphasizing sales enablement, solution positioning, commercial growth, and client relevance rather than manager research. The role translates investment capabilities, insights, and market trends into a compelling solutions strategy and commercialization agenda, particularly for wealth and high-net-worth client segments. The position partners closely with investment leadership, distribution, marketing, and other stakeholders to keep investment solutions competitive, well positioned, and aligned with client demand and business priorities. Depending on the level, the leader may manage and develop a small team or serve as a highly influential individual contributor with broad organizational impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Significant experience in asset management, investment solutions management, investment strategy, product strategy, or related commercial roles.
  • Strong knowledge of public market investment strategies, offerings, and lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated success bridging investments, solutions strategy, and distribution or sales.
  • Ability to develop strategy grounded in market opportunity, client demand, and competitive differentiation.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to work effectively with senior leaders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including explaining complex investment concepts in a commercial, client-friendly way.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills and ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Experience supporting positioning, go-to-market planning, and sales enablement.
  • Strong business judgment, strategic thinking, and execution orientation.
  • Relevant experience serving wealth, private wealth, and/or high-net-worth client segments; candidates with exclusively institutional product backgrounds may be less well aligned.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree and/or CFA, MBA, or equivalent.
  • Experience in a public-side investment platform, CIO office, investment strategy, or investment solutions leadership function.
  • Strong understanding of wealth and high-net-worth client segments, including how investment offerings are positioned and delivered for those audiences.
  • Background blending investment fluency with commercialization.
  • Comfort operating in a highly visible role with senior stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with practical execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy for public-side investment solutions, emphasizing commercialization, positioning, and growth.
  • Partner with the CIO and senior stakeholders to define priorities and market opportunities.
  • Translate investment insights and market trends into actionable solution development, enhancement, and rationalization strategies.
  • Develop solution storytelling and value propositions to support distribution and sales efforts.
  • Partner with sales, client coverage, marketing, and investment teams to align strategy with client needs and market demand.
  • Identify whitespace opportunities across existing and emerging investment solutions.
  • Support go-to-market strategy, including launches, enhancements, campaign themes, and sales enablement materials.
  • Represent investment solutions in discussions with internal stakeholders and, where appropriate, external clients and partners.
  • Monitor competitive trends, investor demand, and industry developments to inform solution evolution and strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, operations, and risk teams to ensure strong governance and execution discipline.
  • Build credibility as a thought partner to investment leaders while maintaining a commercial orientation.
  • Depending on level, lead and develop a small team or operate as an influential individual contributor with broad organizational impact.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Wellbeing programs and flexible global resources and tools.
  • Paid leaves, including paid volunteer time.
  • Potential eligibility for an annual discretionary incentive award.
  • 401(k) plan for eligible employees.
  • Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans for eligible employees and their eligible dependents.
