About The Position

Fitch Ratings is seeking a Managing Director to serve as an Investment Grade (IG) Sector Head within the Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) industry for the U.S. & Canada Corporates, Infrastructure and Project Finance (CIPF) team. This role, based in New York, Chicago, or Toronto, reports to the TMT Industry Family Head. The position involves managing a team of approximately 20 analysts who cover over 200 debt issuers. Key responsibilities include overseeing ratings processes, conducting analytical research, engaging in outreach, and representing Fitch externally at a senior level. Fitch Ratings, a leading credit rating agency with over 100 years of history, plays a crucial role in global capital markets by providing credit analysis, ratings, research, and commentary. Requirements

  • Substantial relevant experience in capital markets and/or credit analysis role.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated willingness and ability to attack and explain topics of analytical complexity.

Nice To Haves

  • CFA preferred.
  • Broad and deep knowledge across IG focused-TMT sectors (media and entertainment, technology hardware and telecommunications) and the macroeconomic, regulatory, and credit trends that influence corporate debt issuers in these industries.
  • Knowledge of project and infrastructure finance in areas relevant to TMT, including sports finance and digital finance, is a plus.
  • Experience leading effective, high-performing teams at scale, with demonstrated success managing multiple sector teams/geographies and building robust succession pipelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop talent and foster potential of junior analysts.
  • Prior experience at a credit rating agency or in a closely related credit role (e.g., corporate credit analysis, capital markets).
  • A network of relationships within the debt capital markets and TMT sector.

Responsibilities

  • Have direct managerial responsibility for a team of ~20 analysts covering more than 200 public and private debt issuers, primarily investment-grade rated.
  • Articulate Fitch’s credit views and sector outlook in meetings, conference calls, and industry roundtables, as well as in written research, in an engaging and dynamic manner.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment in the TMT team and contribute to the overall ethos of the U.S. and Canada CIPF rating team in a manner that prioritizes and advances Fitch’s strategic goals.
  • Be a highly visible presence for the external stakeholders in the ratings process, including industry management teams, private equity sponsors, buy-side and sell-side analysts, and the media.
  • Manage, train, and mentor analysts, strengthening capabilities through professional development, targeted coaching, and best-practice sharing.
  • Raise Fitch’s external market profile via thought leadership, senior-level external representation, and delivery of timely, insightful, and forward-looking rating actions and research.
