About The Position

The Nonprofit Advisory team helps mission-driven organizations strengthen fundraising capacity, development operations, and long-term revenue sustainability. The Manager, Development Consultant leads client engagements that align fundraising strategy, campaigns, donor systems, governance, and financial planning. This role combines senior nonprofit development experience with a practical, data-informed consulting approach to deliver tailored recommendations, tools, and training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, public administration, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive nonprofit fundraising, development, advancement, or related consulting experience, including project or team leadership
  • Demonstrated experience with fundraising strategy, donor cultivation and stewardship, campaign planning, development operations, and performance measurement
  • Strong executive communication, facilitation, analytical, project management, and client relationship skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor CRM systems

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential or equivalent training
  • Experience serving as a development leader, such as a Chief Development Officer, Vice President of Development, or Development Director
  • Experience advising multiple nonprofit subsectors and partnering with executive leadership and boards

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of fundraising and development consulting engagements for nonprofit and education clients.
  • Oversee engagement planning, execution, budgets, timelines, deliverables, quality, and day-to-day client communication.
  • Conduct development assessments, campaign readiness studies, fundraising efficiency reviews, and multi-year revenue planning.
  • Advise clients on annual giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, planned giving, corporate and foundation partnerships, grants, and donor stewardship.
  • Evaluate development operations, staffing, policies, procedures, internal controls, and alignment among leadership, boards, and fundraising teams.
  • Analyze fundraising performance, donor pipelines, return on investment, and key metrics; translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Assess CRM utilization, data quality, prospect tracking, pipeline and moves management, reporting, and related technology needs.
  • Design and facilitate fundraising, governance, and development training for executives, boards, staff, and volunteers.
  • Provide advisory support for interim or fractional development leadership while maintaining professional, ethical, and independence requirements.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to client executives and boards, presenting findings and facilitating decisions that advance mission sustainability.
  • Support business development through lead qualification, scoping, proposal development, presentations, thought leadership, and cross-service collaboration.
  • Mentor and supervise junior team members and specialists, standardize engagement tools, and promote consistent, high-quality delivery.
