About The Position

Modern Family Law is a rapidly expanding national law firm specializing in Family Law, seeking a driven, compassionate, and experienced Managing Attorney to join their team in McLean, VA. This role is hybrid, requiring the Managing Attorney to live within driving distance of the McLean, VA office. The Managing Attorney will oversee the day-to-day operations of the McLean, VA office, handle diverse family law cases, and make a meaningful impact on clients' lives. This position is critical for ensuring the office's productivity and profitability by balancing legal expertise, team mentorship, and operational management. The firm offers a remote-first setting with brick-and-mortar space available, a low billable hours requirement (90 per month), direct client contact, competitive compensation, a wide array of benefits, and learning and development support. Eligibility to work from anywhere begins after 6 months.

Requirements

  • Active admission to the Virginia State Bar.
  • Must be within commuting distance to our McLean, VA office.
  • Skilled in mentoring and leading a team, while fostering collaboration.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with a client-focused mindset.
  • Proficient in client counseling, case prep, case management, and courtroom representation.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written legal communication.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Committed to delivering excellent client service.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) or more years of devoted Family Law experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations, productivity, and profitability of the McLean, VA office.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop legal staff through training, motivation, and support.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and HR on recruitment and policy compliance.
  • Coordinate with other leaders to ensure cross-departmental support.
  • Conduct client consultations and provide legal advice on family law matters.
  • Represent clients in court, prepare legal documents, and negotiate settlements.
