About The Position

Miami Family Law Group is seeking an experienced Managing Attorney to lead their legal team and oversee the quality, strategy, and progression of legal matters. This role is ideal for an experienced attorney who is a strong litigator, legal strategist, effective leader, mentor, coach, and manager of attorneys. The Managing Attorney will oversee attorneys and legal staff, monitor caseloads and case progression, review legal strategy, coach team members, and ensure clients receive exceptional legal representation and service. The position requires comfort with all stages of litigation and the ability to help other attorneys manage their cases. This is an opportunity to play a key leadership role in the firm's growth.

Requirements

  • Active member in good standing with The Florida Bar.
  • Approximately 7–10 years of practicing law.
  • Significant family law litigation experience.
  • Courtroom, hearing, mediation, deposition, and trial experience.
  • Prior experience managing, supervising, mentoring, or training attorneys.
  • Strong ability to evaluate cases and develop legal strategy.
  • Ability to manage multiple attorneys, cases, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
  • High attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and hold team members accountable.
  • Confidence communicating with attorneys, clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
  • Strong understanding of client service and professional responsibility.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal practice-management technology.
  • Exemplary professionalism, judgment, and work ethic.

  • Experience in probate, guardianship, and/or estate planning.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage and supervise a team of attorneys.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, guidance, feedback, and professional development.
  • Serve as a resource for attorneys facing complex case strategy, litigation, client-management, hearing, mediation, or trial issues.
  • Help attorneys build confidence, judgment, accountability, and independence.
  • Monitor attorney performance, productivity, case management, communication, and quality of work.
  • Conduct regular attorney check-ins and case review meetings.
  • Identify areas where attorneys need additional training, support, or accountability.
  • Provide constructive feedback and establish clear expectations when improvement is needed.
  • Help develop firm-wide legal standards and best practices.
  • Foster a collaborative environment where attorneys work together and learn from one another.
  • Partner with firm leadership on the continued development of the legal department.
  • Attend weekly Pod and case-management meetings to oversee caseloads, workloads, deadlines, and case progression.
  • Review complex legal matters and provide strategic guidance.
  • Ensure meaningful case activity and progression are occurring.
  • Identify cases that have stalled and help attorneys determine the appropriate next steps.
  • Monitor how long cases have been active and what phase each matter is currently in.
  • Review case files for strategic progression and upcoming deadlines.
  • Review mediation checklists and determine case readiness for mediation.
  • Thoroughly review matters for trial readiness.
  • Ensure attorneys are adequately preparing for hearings, depositions, mediation, and trial.
  • Assist with strategy, research, drafting, or review of significant legal documents when appropriate.
  • Review attorney work product for quality, accuracy, strategy, and professionalism.
  • Help attorneys develop thoughtful legal strategies based on the client's goals, facts, evidence, and procedural posture.
  • Ensure attorneys appropriately prepare for court appearances and major case events.
  • Monitor attorney-client communication and help ensure clients receive timely and meaningful updates.
  • Assist attorneys with challenging or escalated client situations.
  • Help ensure consistency in legal work and client service across the firm.
  • Hold attorneys accountable for moving matters forward and meeting firm expectations.
  • Maintain a caseload while balancing attorney supervision, case oversight, strategy, and leadership responsibilities.
  • Help attorneys think strategically, prepare effectively, communicate confidently with clients, and move their cases toward resolution.
  • Help shape the attorneys managed and create the type of legal team you would want to practice alongside.
