About The Position

McMichael Taylor Gray, LLC is seeking a Managing Attorney for its Tennessee operations. The Managing Attorney oversees and is responsible for the legal operations and financial success of the Department’s default and foreclosure practice areas. This includes management of Department staff and attorneys. The role provides strategic counsel, guidance, and support to clients and the Firm’s senior leadership, and ensures the Department delivers high-quality legal services and achieves client objectives within established timelines and legal frameworks.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing law with a focus on finance, real estate, or representation of financial institutions in real estate related matters with court room experience preferred.
  • Maintain an active membership in good standing with the State Bar of the states where you practice on behalf of the firm.
  • Proven experience in default, creditors’ rights, and foreclosure law.
  • Knowledge of FDCPA, RESPA, TILA, as well as any applicable state and federal debt collection and real property law a plus.
  • Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.
  • Leadership abilities with a track record of effectively managing teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and providing high-quality legal services.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must be able to provide two professional references.
  • Subject to pre-employment screens and confirmation of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • May be subject to criminal and/or credit history checks and reference checks depending on the nature of the position for which they are applying.
  • Consideration for employment is conditional upon successful completion of these required standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants in handling non-judicial foreclosure cases from initiation to completion.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to ensure efficient and accurate processing of foreclosure files.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends impacting non-judicial foreclosure proceedings.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including notices of default, notices of sale, deeds, and other related correspondence.
  • Interface with clients, opposing counsel, and third-party vendors to facilitate communication and resolve issues effectively.
  • Monitor and track foreclosure timelines, deadlines, and milestones to ensure timely resolution of cases.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior staff members on legal principles, procedural requirements, and best practices for handling non-judicial foreclosure cases.
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files, documentation, and correspondence in accordance with firm policies and regulatory standards.
