About The Position

The Office of Strategic and Global Initiatives is seeking a Managing Assistant Director of Strategic Initiatives (Managing Assistant Director 2). This role, established in 2015, is responsible for coordinating innovative projects, cultivating strategic partnerships, and spearheading special initiatives for the university. The division includes Strategic Initiatives, the Office of Career Services, the Center for International Studies, Kean Skylands, the Human Rights Institute, the Holocaust Resource Center, and the Council on Global Education and Citizenship. The Managing Assistant Director will develop, manage, and lead initiatives that promote the university's mission and values. This includes overseeing administrative and operational affairs, conducting research, developing proposals, and supporting new programming. The role also involves managing partnerships with organizations like College Steps and New Jersey Clean Communities, and overseeing the operations of the Full Steam Ahead pre-college program, the Work-Earn-Live-Learn (WELL) program, and other division pre-college programs. Additionally, the position supports the Chancellor’s office operations related to the Wenzhou-Kean University location in China, and manages logistics for international delegation visits and travel.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years of relevant professional experience in strategic planning, program management, organizational development, higher education administration or a related field.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Education or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, cross-functional projects or strategic initiatives from planning through implementation and evaluation is also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the development and support of programming in Strategic and Global Initiatives.
  • Develops, manages, and leads initiatives as assigned that promote and support the mission and values of the University.
  • Oversees certain administrative and operational affairs at the direction of the Vice President.
  • Conducts research, develops papers and proposals.
  • Supports the development of new programming housed in the division.
  • Oversees partnerships, such as those with College Steps, New Jersey Clean Communities, the PA of NYNJ and other organizations.
  • Manages the operations of the annual Full Steam Ahead pre-college program, Work-Earn-Live-Learn (WELL) program and other division pre-college programs.
  • Develops new employer and external partnerships.
  • Supports the Chancellor’s office operations as assigned related to the Wenzhou-Kean University location in Wenzhou, China.
  • Manages planning, logistics and operations related to international delegation visits and travel both to and from Kean University.
