Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of safety management experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in furniture or fixture production.
  • Deep technical knowledge of OSHA 1910 standards, strong analytical problem-solving abilities, and excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly between the two Alabama facility locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections across both plants to ensure 100% compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Alabama state regulations.
  • Identify and remediate hazards specific to store fixture manufacturing, including machine guarding for wood/metal saws, proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) during maintenance, and ventilation for finishing/painting areas.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs, including new-hire orientation, forklift certification, and periodic "toolbox talks" on ergonomics and proper lifting.
  • Lead root-cause investigations for all accidents or near-misses and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Maintain all required documentation, including OSHA 300 logs, safety data sheets (SDS), and equipment maintenance records.
  • Track leading and lagging indicators to evaluate data and set improvement goals.
  • Establish and facilitate active safety committees at both locations to empower employees to participate in safety improvements.
