About The Position

Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) is seeking a Manager of Program Design and Strategy to develop impactful programming for youth ages 6-18, dynamic professional development for Club leaders and youth development facilitators, and capacity-building resources. This role involves translating research and promising practices into scalable solutions, designing engaging experiences for youth, and creating adult-facing trainings and resources. The Manager will focus on whole-child development, including health and well-being, character and leadership, academic success, and life and workforce readiness. They will coach Clubs through rigorous programming, training, and strategy, supporting Continuous Quality Improvement. The role requires a deep understanding of youth development and the ability to apply insights into actionable skill-building curricula and resources. Through consultation, the Manager will guide Clubs in implementing evidence-informed programming and strategies to achieve youth outcomes. When Club cohorts are aligned to grants, they will lead the execution of grant deliverables. This self-directed role involves strategic thinking, content creation, capacity-building, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration. The Manager will not manage direct reports but may manage contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in youth development, curriculum design, instructional design, consulting, or related fields.
  • Proven track record in designing, writing, and delivering content and adult capacity-building resources that have a lasting impact on young people.
  • Expertise in positive youth development principles, out-of-school programming, and instructional design.
  • Ability to provide regular targeted strategic support to adults to improve their overall practice and youth outcomes.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects, follow processes and procedures, set measurable goals, and articulate clear steps and strategic thinking to achieve them.
  • Strong writing skills for program materials, trainings, and reports.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and compellingly to diverse audiences.
  • Natural collaborator, able to work effectively with diverse teams with different perspectives.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to pivot and find creative solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Action-oriented, results-driven, and willing to take calculated risks.
  • Provide technical leadership and coaching for youth-focused interventions.
  • Strong systems thinking and strategic judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and creation of innovative, impactful content that resonates with young people.
  • Write and ideate new programming that will inspire and engage youth and staff.
  • Create developmentally appropriate, evidenced, and trauma-informed programs that foster positive youth development.
  • Develop trainings and capacity-building resources for adults to support their delivery of programming and create a safe and positive environment where young people thrive.
  • Understand key youth development research and translate findings into implementation strategies, recommendations, and experiences for Clubs to enhance program quality.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to move projects from brainstorming to final delivery.
  • Manage multiple projects, ensuring each meets its goals and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the External Relations department on critical projects tied to significant grants and partnerships.
  • Provide individual and group consultations to make sense of Club data and offer targeted recommendations to leaders advancing through Program Models.
  • Embrace a mindset of continuous improvement, enhancing the effectiveness and reach of programming and capacity-building resources.
  • Make decisions, even when faced with ambiguity.
