Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of logistics or supply chain experience
  • 3+ years of transportation-related procurement experience (sourcing, contracting, category, and supplier management).
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple RFP events and projects concurrently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of truckload procurement activities across Odyssey’s business units.
  • Runs procurement events, executes sourcing strategies, supports carrier engagement, monitors performance, and provides market insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Helps streamline end‑to‑end truckload sourcing processes to ensure responsiveness to market conditions while delivering competitive cost, consistent service, and operational reliability.
  • Executes truckload, flatbed, and intermodal procurement strategies developed in partnership with the Director.
  • Leads mid‑size and supports large‑scale truckload sourcing events across Odyssey’s businesses.
  • Develops network‑based transportation solutions that deliver cost competitiveness and meet service requirements.
  • Conducts detailed bid analysis, optimizes routing guides, and recommends award scenarios.
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with key Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) across all levels.
  • Supports the Director in managing strategic carrier relationships and ensuring adherence to performance expectations.
  • Monitors carrier KPIs (OTD, acceptance, cost, compliance) and recommends corrective actions when performance falls below targets.
  • Tracks market trends and provides relevant insights to internal teams to support pricing, planning, and budget processes.
  • Partners with business unit procurement and operations teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions aligned with cost and service goals.
  • Supports customer‑facing discussions by providing procurement and market perspectives as needed.
  • Collaborates with Master Data teams to ensure accurate routing data setup and maintenance.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives to streamline procurement processes, enhance visibility, and improve carrier engagement.
  • Contributes to strategies for managing the long‑tail carrier base to reduce risk and improve performance.
  • Ensures compliance with organizational procurement policies, procedures, and corporate governance standards.
  • Assists in negotiations for contracts and service agreements under the guidance of the Director.
  • Serves as a point of escalation for carrier performance issues within the truckload procurement function.
  • Prepares reporting, analysis, and summaries to support executive decision‑making.
  • Performs all other duties and projects as assigned.
