Purpose of Role: The Manager, Treasury is responsible for the execution of global treasury operations, ensuring the company’s liquidity, financial risk mitigation, and debt compliance. Reporting to the Director, Treasury, the role serves as a key bridge between high-level strategy and daily execution.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Commerce, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with cash and treasury management, including online global banking platforms.
  • Minimum 3 years of managerial experience in treasury or other related financial role.
  • Experience with trading (foreign exchange, precious metals) and/or derivatives trading.
  • Strong understanding of macroeconomics.
  • Understanding of equity and debt capital markets.
  • Understanding of financial modelling, cash flow analysis and credit metrics.
  • Highly skilled with Microsoft Excel and Bloomberg.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent people skills to be used in building constructive working relationships internal and external to Hudbay.
  • Strong analytical skills allowing one to take a numeric, systems-based approach to problem solving.
  • Strong attention to details, and a focus on continuous development along with a desire to produce a high-quality work product.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree or professional certifications (CPA, CFA, CTP).
  • Mining or natural resources industry and public company experience.
  • Familiarity with business valuation principles (DCF, NPV, IRR).
  • Understanding of the basic principles of investment management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day treasury operations, including assessing Hudbay’s cash needs, ensuring sufficient liquidity in each business unit, opening and closing bank accounts, assisting with the Scotia Connect banking system and business unit banking requests.
  • Execute foreign exchange trades and strategies for the deployment of excess cash balances to optimize yield and diversify bank exposure.
  • Execute RCF draws and LC renewals.
  • Own the monthly treasury report and regular cash monitoring.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with reporting and debt covenant provisions of Hudbay’s debt facilities and high yield bonds.
  • Support the preparation of consolidated financials by supplying data and analysis to financial and legal teams.
  • Support impairment and other valuation projects by performing WACC analysis.
  • Execute purchase of gold and silver for delivery to Wheaton Precious Metals, and manage the flow of cash to contribute to business entities.
  • Execute sale of gold and silver for doré production and manage communication with third-party assayer to ensure timely cash receipt and revenue recognition.
  • Manage the confirmation and settlement process for all trading activities.
  • Collect and analyse market information provided by hedge counterparties on spreads, volatilities, and derivatives pricing.
  • Assist Director, Treasury with the execution of hedging instruments and formulation of hedging strategies.
  • Administer the LC and surety bond program in Canada to ensure successful renewal and sufficient capacity available for future bonding.
  • Coordinate the timely execution of equipment financing loan/lease documentation with banks or OEM financiers of capital equipment.
  • Prepare terms sheet analyses and other materials to assist in the negotiation of terms for debt financings.
  • Provide transactional support in the form of corporate cash flow models and due diligence materials to syndicates.
  • Support in the development of financing plans for major projects.
  • Conduct comparative analysis in support of restructuring liquidity lines to reduce interest costs, increase liquidity and increase financial flexibility.
  • Prepare Hudbay’s Global Price Deck by collecting supporting data from external sources and Hudbay’s marketing department, analyzing data and monitoring the market, and developing methodologies to analyze and support forecast prices.
  • Participate in the management of relationships with banks and financing companies to help ensure long-term access to capital markets.
  • Support Director, Treasury in ensuring treasury activities and procedures are in compliance with corporate policies, accounting guidelines and internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX regulations).
  • Complete other projects from time to time as directed by Director, Treasury.
