Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in automobile Engineering and/or Manufacturing within an OEM or Tier-1 supplier.
  • 4+ years in a Management Role with direct reports.
  • Proven experience developing components from concept through production release.
  • Prior leadership experience managing engineers or technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of Engineering and Manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with supplier management, design reviews, PPAP processes, and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Proficiency with CAD systems (e.g., CATIA, Teamcenter or similar).
  • Exceptional communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness, positive attitude, and a growth mindset.
  • Comfort with change and flexibility in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Collaborative approach to achieving ambitious goals.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Engineers in the Technical Office of Engineering (TOE) responsible for all R&D functions in the Production Center.
  • Hire and onboard new team members as needed to meet program and organizational growth.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure proper workload balance, resource planning, and team development.
  • Manage the industrialization of new models, adapting designs for production conditions ('Design for Manufacturing').
  • Oversee product adaptations to optimize manufacturing processes and workflows.
  • Coordinate with MSTs and the Production Center (P, QA).
  • Manage Engineering Change Management, ensuring integrated issues management and communication.
  • Provide technical evaluation of the production impact of design changes and coordinate implementation in the plant.
  • Ensure changes are cleanly integrated into the production line, including build documentation.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (e.g., fit, tolerances, material defects).
  • Ensure collaboration with quality, suppliers, and development teams.
  • Introduce technical improvements to prevent field issues.
  • Serve as the interface to DREs, providing feedback from series production.
  • Participate in 'Part Table reviews' (e.g., component approvals).
  • Support testing and validation in the build process.
  • Organize test car builds and build documentation, including test car sign-off for R&D.
  • Support pre-series builds and ramp-up, ensuring quick technical communication and rapid resolution of 'build issues'.
  • Provide technical coordination with suppliers for problems or changes.
  • Evaluate component quality and manufacturability.
  • Identify cost-saving potential (materials, processes) and implement value engineering measures.
  • Reduce scrap and rework.
  • Collaborate closely with production, quality, sales, purchasing, finance, product management, vehicle dynamics, CAE, other R&D teams, and cross-system engineering partners.
  • Develop long-term strategies for component maturity, sourcing, innovation, and future technology roadmaps.
  • Create and maintain engineering development plans, ensuring alignment with program milestones.
  • Identify and mitigate program risks related to timing, resources, suppliers, cost, or technical challenges.
