About The Position

The Manager, Technology Operations (TechOps) leads a centralized technology operations function supporting multiple product, platform, infrastructure, and DevOps teams across AWS and Microsoft Azure. The role manages three Technology Operations engineers and is accountable for cloud foundations, shared CI/CD capabilities, production change governance, observability, and centralized Level 2 production support. The position serves as the operational authority for production deployment governance, ensuring changes are secure, traceable, supportable, and compliant. The Manager enables engineering teams to deliver quickly and safely through repeatable cloud services, automated controls, reusable platform capabilities, and a clearly defined production approval gate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • 7+ years in cloud operations, DevOps, platform engineering, SRE, technical operations, or a related discipline, including 2+ years leading technical teams.
  • Enterprise experience with AWS and Microsoft Azure, cloud landing zones, governance guardrails, Infrastructure as Code, identity, secrets management, networking dependencies, cost governance, and environment segregation.
  • Experience with CI/CD and repository platforms such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, or Jenkins; release governance; artifact repositories; workload identities; and automated deployment controls.
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow change management, Jira release workflows, ITIL practices, incident and problem management, observability, SRE methods, and operational readiness.
  • Experience applying DevSecOps controls including SAST, SCA, secret scanning, DAST, image scanning, SBOM, artifact signing, provenance, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Experience with segregation of duties, least privilege, privileged access management, audit evidence, risk acceptance, compliance reviews, and production access controls.
  • Ability to automate and integrate platforms using PowerShell, Python, APIs, Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, or comparable technologies.
  • Hands-on technical credibility and the judgment to make sound decisions under delivery pressure.
  • Control discipline and the confidence to maintain independent approval requirements consistently.
  • Platform thinking that favors reusable automation and self-service over manual queues.
  • Clear communication, stakeholder management, and boundary-setting across global matrixed teams.
  • Calm, structured incident leadership and the ability to coordinate multiple technical groups.
  • Pragmatism, accountability, curiosity, customer focus, and commitment to measurable continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred certifications include AWS or Azure architecture or DevOps credentials, ITIL, Kubernetes, SRE, PMP, or comparable service and delivery credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Own the TechOps service catalog, operating model, platform roadmap, stakeholder engagement, and delivery commitments across supported teams.
  • Promote automation, accountability, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and consistent platform standards.
  • Serve as production change authority; chair CAB and govern standard, normal, major, emergency, and break-glass changes.
  • Enforce segregation of duties across change authoring, approval, and execution, including workflow controls that prevent self-approval.
  • Govern ServiceNow, Jira, and CI/CD approval workflows and maintain traceability from approved records to pipeline runs, artifacts, test results, rollback plans, and production verification.
  • Ensure deployments use approved automated pipelines and controlled workload identities rather than standing human credentials.
  • Own operational governance for AWS and Azure landing zones, account and subscription provisioning, tagging, guardrails, environment segregation, and reusable Infrastructure-as-Code modules.
  • Own shared CI/CD services, production-stage controls, runners and agents, artifact repositories, deployment templates, secrets integration, and release controls.
  • Embed and oversee SAST, SCA, secret scanning, DAST or runtime testing, image scanning, SBOM generation, artifact signing, provenance, and build-once/deploy-many practices.
  • Partner with Infrastructure, Network, Identity, Architecture, and Cyber Security to deliver scalable, resilient, cost-effective, and compliant cloud services.
  • Lead centralized Level 2 support, observability standards, alert routing, incident coordination, root cause analysis, problem management, and post-incident improvement.
  • Serve as Incident Commander for high-severity incidents and maintain clear cross-functional escalation and communication.
  • Enforce production-readiness requirements including runbooks, SLOs, actionable alerts, tested rollback, named Level 3 support, and approved secrets handling.
  • Maintain audit evidence and support control reviews, workflow bypass tests, risk assessments, compliance reviews, exception tracking, and remediation.
