About The Position

The Manager, Surgical Day Care & Procedures is responsible for the operational leadership, clinical oversight, and strategic development of the Surgical Day Care Unit and Procedure Services, including Endoscopy, within a newly established ambulatory care centre. This role provides leadership to interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while optimizing workflow, patient throughput, and resource utilization. The Manager plays a key role in building programs, establishing workflows, supporting physician partnerships, and ensuring regulatory compliance during the centre’s growth and expansion.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience), with a strong foundation in clinical and operational leadership.
Registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Perioperative Services or Procedural Room settings.
Strong knowledge of procedural sedation standards and endoscope reprocessing guidelines.
Recent, relevant managerial experience leading teams in dynamic environments, with a proven ability to build and scale high-performing perioperative programs.
Track record of driving innovation, implementing process improvements, developing policies, and inspiring creativity and collaboration to achieve ambitious program and organizational goals.
Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges, solve problems proactively, and make data-driven decisions in real time.
Demonstrated resilience and adaptability under pressure, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines while guiding teams through growth, change, and expansion.
Satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening, plus proof of immunization and TB records

Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day operations of the Surgical Day Care and Procedural program (including Endoscopy)
Implement and optimize workflows, policies, and standard operating procedures.
Monitor patient flow to ensure efficiency, minimal wait times, and optimal utilization of procedure rooms.
Oversee scheduling models to maximize capacity and support incremental program growth.
Participate in capital planning, equipment procurement, and service expansion initiatives.
Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned.
Ensure delivery of safe, efficient, evidence-based care in accordance with professional standards and accreditation requirements.
Develop and monitor quality indicators (e.g., infection prevention, reprocessing standards, patient outcomes, incident reporting).
Oversee endoscopy reprocessing practices and compliance with infection prevention and control standards.
Lead quality improvement initiatives and support a culture of continuous improvement.
Ensure emergency preparedness protocols are in place for procedural sedation and perioperative care.
Recruit, onboard, and mentor nursing and support staff.
Optimize staffing models appropriate for ambulatory surgical and procedural care.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture.
Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development.
Work with Clinical Educators to ensure appropriate education and competency validation for sedation, recovery care, and endoscopy reprocessing.
Partner with Clinical Director, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and proceduralists to ensure seamless service delivery.
Act as operational liaison between physicians and administrative leadership.
Support scheduling coordination and room allocation planning.
Address operational challenges proactively and collaboratively.
Develop and manage departmental budgets.
Monitor supply utilization and implement cost-effective practices.
Oversee inventory control for pre procedure, procedural and endoscopy supplies.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency without compromising quality.
Ensure compliance with provincial regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
Oversee documentation standards and EHR workflow integrity.
Maintain readiness for inspections and audits.
Ensure adherence to occupational health and safety standards.
Participate in all mandatory training requirements and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, company Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelines.
