About The Position

The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) is seeking a Manager, Student Development to serve as the primary staff liaison to APhA‑Student Chapters and Chapter Advisors. This role involves providing guidance, training resources, and support to strengthen chapter operations, leadership effectiveness, and member engagement. The position will also support recruitment and retention of student members, coordinate awards and recognition programs, and promote patient care and community service initiatives. Additionally, the Manager will serve as staff liaison for student and international programs, assist with website and digital tool development, plan leadership orientations, monitor membership and program outcomes, and act as a resource across APhA departments and with external partners. The role also involves supporting additional student development initiatives to advance APhA’s mission and long-term membership engagement.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from an accredited school or college of pharmacy.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience or 1+ year of a Residency/Fellowship and 1+ years of relevant experience in an association, nonprofit, or related fields.
  • A valid and active license to practice pharmacy in the U.S. or its territories.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent project management / program development skills from on/off-site locations
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple work tasks effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to relate to and interact with a wide variety of professional audiences
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to travel

Nice To Haves

  • A Doctor of Pharmacy degree and residency training is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet, and other computer applications preferred
  • Experience with volunteer leadership preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary staff liaison to APhA‑Student Chapters and Chapter Advisors, providing guidance, training resources, and support to strengthen chapter operations, leadership effectiveness, and member engagement.
  • Support recruitment and retention of student members by collaborating with Membership Development and Marketing on student-focused campaigns, tools, and materials, and tracking membership outcomes.
  • Coordinate and support APhA‑Student awards, recognition, and reporting efforts, including the APhA‑Student Annual Report and chapter and academy awards programs.
  • Support and promote APhA‑Student patient care and community service initiatives, including national projects and the National Patient Counseling Competition, ensuring effective logistics, communications, and partner coordination.
  • Serve as staff liaison to student and international programs, including the Student International Standing Committee, IPSF initiatives, and the Student Exchange Program.
  • Assist with development, maintenance, and optimization of the APhA‑Student website, digital tools, and monthly e‑communications for student leaders and advisors.
  • Plan and facilitate chapter leadership orientations and ongoing communications to ensure leaders are informed, prepared, and supported in their roles.
  • Monitor, track, and report on student membership, chapter development activities, and program outcomes to inform leadership and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a resource across APhA departments and with external partners on matters related to student members, chapters, and student-focused programs.
  • Support additional student development initiatives and projects as assigned to advance APhA’s mission and long-term membership engagement.
