About The Position

The Manager of Strategic Supply Chain Sourcing provides sourcing leadership and direction for a group of categories and category management team members. The role champions collaboration with business leaders to forecast needs, assess markets, and manage the supply base. The manager builds trusted-advisor relationships with business leaders and Supply Chain executive leadership, shapes category management strategies, and leads category and cross-functional teams to achieve successful project and category outcomes. The position also addresses escalated supplier issues, promotes innovation and supplier partnerships, and leads highly complex contract negotiations as needed. The manager develops organizational talent and builds high-performing teams by fostering an inclusive, solution-oriented culture and facilitating personal and professional development. The role advances category management processes and capabilities, supports efficient and consistent sourcing practices, and mitigates cost, supply, financial, and other risks by ensuring compliance with processes and agreements. Xcel Energy supports a hybrid work model. Many roles are expected to work onsite three days per week, Tuesday through Thursday, though expectations vary by role, team, and business needs. This position may require travel up to 20%.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, business, or another related technical or analytical field.
A combination of ten years of supply chain and industry experience, including category management, supplier relationship management, sourcing, and contract management expertise.
At least two years of experience directly leading a team, or equivalent experience directing workload and developing junior team members.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Driver’s license and ability to travel up to 20%.

Certified Professional in Supply Chain Management (CPSM).

Responsibilities

Lead the team in developing category management skills, business acumen, and careers.
Build trusted-advisor relationships with the business and coordinate across Supply Chain to support supply continuity, value, innovation, and consistent supplier service.
Mitigate cost, supply, financial, and other risks by ensuring compliance with processes and incorporating key terms and conditions into agreements; educate suppliers and business stakeholders and hold them accountable to terms and procedures.
Advance key category management processes and capabilities.
Collaborate across the team to improve efficiency while maintaining strong sourcing practices.
Lead team initiatives to optimize and adhere to processes.
Provide expert guidance, oversight, and collaboration to the Supply Chain team in developing category and sourcing strategies.
Generate and implement new ideas and processes.
Mentor team members and oversee their work.
Lead category and cross-functional teams to achieve project and category outcomes.
Resolve escalated supplier issues, promote supplier innovation and partnerships, and lead highly complex contract negotiations as needed.
