About The Position

The Manager, Strategic Finance Projects leads a team of Strategic Finance Project Analysts responsible for advancing high-priority finance initiatives, business cases, and cross-functional workstreams. This role provides people leadership, portfolio governance, analytical direction, and executive-ready communication to support investment decisions, financial performance visibility, value realization, and disciplined follow-through across Finance, IS, market, and business partners. The Manager translates complex financial, operational, and market information into clear insights, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions for senior leadership.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree.
Five or more years of experience in finance, FP&A, financial analysis, project management, strategic initiatives, business case development, or related healthcare/managed care finance roles.
People leadership and coaching skills, including workload prioritization, deliverable review, feedback, and analyst development
Advanced project and portfolio management skills, including charters, workplans, milestones, RAID logs, decision logs, action trackers, and governance routines
Strong financial modeling, business case development, value assessment, scenario analysis, and outcome tracking capabilities
Demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous problems and translate complex financial, operational, and market information into actionable recommendations
Executive communication, storytelling, presentation, and audience-tailoring skills for Board, CFO/CEO, steering committee, and senior leadership materials
Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, facilitate decision-making, manage escalations, and drive timely follow-through
Experience developing dashboards, KPIs, portfolio reporting, and performance monitoring tools
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with data visualization, BI tools, or automation tools preferred
Strong attention to detail, accountability, organization, judgment, and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

Lead and develop a team of Strategic Finance Project Analysts, including prioritizing work, providing coaching, reviewing deliverables, and strengthening analytical rigor, project discipline, and executive communication quality.
Establish portfolio governance for finance projects and cross-functional workstreams, including intake, prioritization, charters, workplans, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, and leadership routines.
Direct business case development, financial modeling, value assessments, and scenario analysis in partnership with Finance, IS, market, and business leaders to support investment decisions and expected outcome tracking.
Oversee synthesis of financial, operational, and market data into clear insights, root causes, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions for senior leadership review.
Manage development of executive-facing materials, including Board, CFO/CEO, steering committee, and senior leadership updates, ensuring concise storylines, decision framing, and clear “so what” implications.
Monitor portfolio performance, value realization, financial impact, KPIs, and emerging risks or opportunities through dashboards, reporting tools, and recurring management routines.
Facilitate cross-functional alignment and escalation of barriers by clarifying decisions needed, accountable owners, timing, mitigation options, and follow-through expectations.
Standardize project templates, reporting formats, action trackers, dashboards, and operating practices to improve consistency, repeatability, and leadership visibility across the finance project portfolio.
