About The Position

Universal Music Group (UMG) is seeking a Manager, Strategic Analytics to join its Strategic Analytics team. The Manager uses large datasets and complex SQL and Excel analyses to develop commercially impactful insights, then communicates findings to decision-makers with varying functions, seniority, and technical expertise. The role also requires understanding, or eagerness to learn, business models shaping digital and subscription-based media. The Manager works consultatively with stakeholders to define goals and analytical questions, builds detailed financial models for scenario analysis in major licensing negotiations, extracts and validates project data, and prepares executive-level presentations to inform UMG-wide strategy. They own complex workstreams with minimal technical oversight and collaborate with junior Strategic Analytics team members on larger projects. Illustrative work includes estimating markets and growth opportunities, modeling licensing negotiations with partners such as Spotify, Apple, and YouTube, forecasting content performance, and analyzing the breakeven point of content-promotion investments. This is an on-site role based in UMG’s Santa Monica office, with an expectation of at least three to four days per week in the office.
