About The Position

The Manager, Sourcing & Procurement is responsible for leading sourcing, procurement, supplier management, and contract negotiation activities that support Dendreon's manufacturing, commercial, clinical, and corporate operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced procurement professional to oversee the development of all Requests for Quotes and Proposals, Capital Projects, support award selection, lead purchase negotiations and complete contract commitments. The role drives process and budget improvements through continuous improvement incentives and enforces ethical and effective procurement practices within the buyer team. This position is ideal for a collaborative, business-focused procurement leader who thrives in a fast-paced biotechnology environment and enjoys rolling up their sleeves to solve problems, build supplier relationships, and drive results. NOTE: This role requires on-site presence at our Seal Beach, CA location 5 days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive sourcing, procurement, or supply chain experience.
  • 2+ years leadership experience with direct reports.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating supplier agreements, service contracts, and commercial terms within the United States.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and supplier performance.
  • Experience leading RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and supplier selection processes.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively interact with vendors, service providers, and cross-functional business stakeholders.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and procurement tools.
  • Strong organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, medical device, CDMO, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Previous people leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
  • Knowledge of GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, facilities, laboratory, engineering, capital equipment, or professional services procurement.
  • CPSM, CPM, APICS, or other relevant procurement certifications.
  • Experience working in small-to-mid-sized biotechnology or pharmaceutical organizations where procurement leaders are expected to balance management responsibilities with hands-on execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing activities for goods and services that support manufacturing, laboratory, facilities, corporate, and commercial operations.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that balance quality, service, risk, and cost considerations.
  • Lead supplier selection initiatives, including RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and participate in supplier qualification activities.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and supplier consolidation.
  • Lead negotiations of supplier agreements, service contracts, Statements of Work (SOWs), Master Service Agreements (MSAs), and other commercial contracts.
  • Partner closely with Legal, Finance, Quality, Operations, and business stakeholders to negotiate favorable commercial terms while mitigating risk.
  • Ensure contracts align with company policies and business objectives.
  • Manage contract renewals, amendments, and supplier performance obligations.
  • Personally perform sourcing and procurement activities when needed to support business priorities.
  • Balance leadership responsibilities with direct execution of procurement initiatives.
  • Support day-to-day purchasing operations and assist with escalations as necessary.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, responsiveness, customer service, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead, coach, and develop procurement personnel.
  • Establish goals, priorities, and workload distribution across the procurement function.
  • Provide guidance and support on sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and procurement best practices.
  • Promote a collaborative and service-oriented team culture.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Technical Operations, Facilities, Finance, Clinical, and Commercial teams to understand business requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding sourcing strategies, supplier performance, and project status.
  • Support capital projects and strategic business initiatives through procurement expertise and supplier engagement.
  • Works directly with VMI contact for ensuring adequate levels of inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.
