About The Position

The Verification Engineering Manager will lead a team responsible for verification planning, test strategy, execution, defect management, and compliance for complex medical device systems involving embedded software, firmware, and limited system-level integration. This role requires strong technical leadership, experience with regulated product development, and the ability to guide verification activities across the full product lifecycle, from requirements analysis through design verification, system integration, risk assessment, and release readiness. The ideal candidate requires extensive experience in embedded systems, software development, systems engineering, and medical device product development, with demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive high-quality deliverables in a regulated environment. The position requires more than 15 years of experience across embedded systems, firmware, software development, and systems engineering, including more than 10 years in medical devices.

Requirements

  • Strong experience leading verification, systems engineering, software engineering, firmware engineering, or embedded systems teams in a regulated product development environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with embedded control systems, interfaces, software development, testing, and deployment
  • Experience with medical device development and regulated engineering practices.
  • Knowledge of medical device standards and regulations such as IEC 60601, ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, IEC 62366, and AAPM-related practices.
  • Strong understanding of requirements management, requirements traceability, verification evidence, defect management, and design control documentation.
  • Experience with design reviews, risk assessment, system integration, architecture, and regulatory documentation
  • Experience leading multiple teams or cross-functional projects in new product development.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting capability for complex system issues involving hardware, embedded software, firmware, communication interfaces, and electromechanical subsystems.
  • Ability to communicate project status, risks, issues, and escalations clearly to project teams and senior leadership.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, organization, communication, and decision-making skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead verification engineering activities for complex electromechanical, embedded software, firmware, and system-level medical device products.
  • Own and drive verification strategy, including test planning, test design, execution oversight, defect triage, traceability, and verification closure.
  • Manage and mentor verification engineers, define priorities, assign work, monitor progress, and support team development through regular staff meetings and one-on-one coaching.
  • Partner with systems engineering, software, firmware, hardware, quality, regulatory, product management, clinical, usability, and R&D teams to ensure verification activities are aligned with product requirements, risk controls, and release objectives.
  • Ensure verification work products are compliant with applicable medical device standards, quality system requirements, and design control expectations.
  • Drive requirements-based verification, including review of system and software requirements, identification of testable acceptance criteria, and maintenance of traceability between requirements, risks, tests, defects, and verification evidence.
  • Lead verification planning for new product development and sustaining engineering programs, including schedule planning, technical risk management, and critical path tracking
  • Identify engineering risk areas, escalate top issues, and partner with engineering subject matter experts to define mitigation plans.
  • Ensure verification deliverables are maintained in appropriate design history files and quality records.
  • Support design reviews, risk assessments, architecture reviews, integration readiness, test readiness, and release readiness reviews.
  • Promote continuous improvement in verification processes, test coverage, automation, defect analysis, execution efficiency, and engineering best practices.
