Manager, Software QA Engineering, Client Apps
About The Position
Paramount is seeking a Manager, Software Quality Assurance Engineering to lead the design and build-out of testing infrastructure for its large-scale software development and deployment ecosystem. The role promotes a shift-left quality culture by anticipating risks and failure points before they reach customers or production, and represents Global Quality Engineering (GQE) in Scrum ceremonies and cross-functional discussions. The manager leads and mentors quality engineers, partners technically with engineering leaders, and provides strategic input on test coverage, automation, reliability, and software quality across consumer-facing platforms. The position combines hands-on QA and automation expertise with people leadership across on-site and offshore teams. It also involves evaluating and scaling modern AI-powered testing tools, leading test automation, CI/CD, and DevOps solutions for Client teams, and improving quality assurance, defect remediation, and data validation practices in an Agile environment.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of testing experience in an Agile software development methodology.
- At least 5 years leading projects with minimal supervision.
- At least 5 years of people management experience working with on-site and offshore teams.
- At least 5 years testing consumer-facing applications on WebCTV and built-in CTV platforms.
- At least 5 years developing test automation scripts with object-oriented frameworks such as Selenium/WebDriver and Java.
- Experience with TestNG, Git, SQL, Jenkins, Maven, Charles or Fiddler, JIRA, and TestRail.
- Deep understanding of streaming playback fundamentals and proven experience testing WebCTV platforms, including smart TVs and streaming devices.
- Hands-on experience with QoE monitoring tools such as Conviva or Mux to identify and triage device-specific playback defects.
- Hands-on knowledge of AI-powered testing and coding assistants, including the ability to evaluate, pilot, and scale tools that automate regression testing and enhance requirement validation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a comparable field, and/or equivalent work experience.
Nice To Haves
- At least 2 years of performance testing experience using commercial or open-source tools such as jMeter, Curl, or WebPageTest.
- Working knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
- Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Responsibilities
- Lead geographically dispersed teams and foster collaboration across locations and time zones.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and coaching to team members.
- Manage on-site and offshore personnel.
- Lead and manage implementation of test automation, CI/CD, and DevOps solutions for Client teams.
- Promote a shift-left quality mindset in a fast-paced Agile environment.
- Assess Quality Engineering capabilities and develop pilots, proofs of concept, and implementation plans to address gaps.
- Evaluate, pilot, and scale AI-powered testing and coding assistants to improve productivity and automate repetitive QA workflows.
- Partner with developers and technology leaders to drive quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Represent GQE in Scrum ceremonies and cross-functional discussions.
- Communicate technical concepts, quality risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Develop and continuously improve testing, quality assurance, and defect remediation processes.
- Assess risks associated with defects and establish appropriate priority and severity levels.
- Provide holistic assessments of data quality across existing implementations and new feature development.
- Develop data validation tests aligned with business and technical requirements within an Agile delivery methodology.
