About The Position

Under the direction of the Department of Surgery Academic Program Administrator, the Manager of the Skills, Acquisition and Innovation Laboratory (SAIL) will oversee the daily operations of the SAIL facility, and implementation of its internal and external simulation based educational and training programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in related field
• Four plus years’ experience developing clinical skills programs.
• Clear demonstrations of technical, analytical, organizational, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Background in developing a surgical resident skills lab at an academic medical center.
• Ability to handle multiple simultaneous demands and prioritize work.

Responsibilities

• Assists Department of Surgery faculty and residents in applying for educational research grants involving simulation and outcomes studies.
• Establish and maintain a professional learning environment that is stimulating and inviting to students, residents, fellows, and faculty and outside partners.
• Keeps abreast of new legislation and regulations; attends national and regional conferences on surgical skills labs and curriculum; reviews current literature, communicates updates and changes to department leadership.
• Manages the budget for SAIL and recommends pricing schedule for external use applications.
• Manages the daily operations and maintenance of SAIL.
• Represents the department with existing and potential industry partners in the development of grants and proposals for simulation and educational based projects.
• Works with other WCMC departments, NYP, and external organizations to identify and meet training needs involving simulation and develops training modules that can be conducted within SAIL.
• Ensures that equipment and resources are properly maintained and appropriately utilized at all times, and maintains inventory of all resources and recommends purchase of additional simulation equipment needed for training.
• Leverages available resources to assess, plan and design workflows and subsequent configuration/builds to measurably improve patient access and revenue cycle operations with a focus on claims and EDI activity. Defines best practices around workflows.
