About The Position

The Manager Shipboard HR Programs at CCL is responsible for the end-to-end management and execution of strategic HR programs that support the company’s HR strategy. The Manager Shipboard HR Programs is responsible for developing, designing, implementing and auditing HR policies and HR standard operating procedures that govern the fleet. Beyond policy, this individual serves as a Project Manager for organizational changes that are required for our shipboard workforce ensuring regulatory, legal and MLC (Maritime Labour Convention) compliance. This role is accountable to ensure that all fleet policies, procedures, and staffing projects align with maritime regulations and organizational goals, acting as a liaison between HR and shipboard operations. The Manager Shipboard HR Programs will work closely with VP Shipboard HR and Operational Leaders to deliver the operational shipboard HR & People strategy. The ideal candidate will have a proven track in project management, HR policy/procedure development and experience in managing organizational change in a complex multinational environment. Previous HR experience in the cruise industry is advantageous, Degree in HR Management or equivalent with preferred project management experience. Candidate should possess strong analytical, communication and stakeholder influencing skills and have the ability to translate complex initiatives into concise compelling presentations and updates.

Requirements

  • Degree in HR Management or Equivelant.
  • 5 years in a similar role
  • Significant HR Generalist/Management experience is essential.
  • Candidate should possess HR project management experience.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM or CIPD qualified
  • Preferred experience in the cruise industry and /or shipbobard experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the end-to-end development and design of HR Polices and HR Standard Operating Procedures for the fleet.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the Carnival Shipboard Employee Handbook to ensure it accurately reflects changes and updates to policies and procedures.
  • Implementing regular review process to ensure they comply with appropriate maritime regulations including the MLC, STCW, and Flag.
  • Responsible for end-to-end HR project management: Defines project scope, aligns stakeholders, manages risks, plans and executes to support shipboard HR strategic people plans.
  • Working in collaboration with key operational stakeholders, responsible for effective communication and keeping projects on track.
  • Projects may include: workforce planning and budgeting, startup of new vessels, organizational changes & crew accommodations
  • Development of HR Communication strategies to translate complex HR initiatives—such as benefits, policy changes, and performance management—into clear, engaging messages for employees.
  • These may include employee letters, presentations and drafting HR related communications.
  • Partners with communications team for necessary approvals.
  • Maintains the HR SharePoint system for the vessels as well as relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Responsible for working in partnership with Finance to lead and streamline the crew receivable initiatives that recover outstanding expenses owed to the company.
  • Responsible for liaising with the vessels, HR Directors and team members to review statements and approve/deny disputes.
  • Responsible for the oversight, administration and vendor relationship management of the Carnival International Savings Plan and the Senior Officers Health Insurance program with Allianz.
