Manager, Sales Compensation

CodeRabbit•San Francisco, CA
•$150,000 - $170,000

About The Position

CodeRabbit is hiring a Manager, Sales Compensation to take ownership of a substantial portion of the company’s sales compensation function as its go-to-market organization scales. The role owns the commissions process across six payee groups, including payments, plan documents, calculators, and disputes. It will build processes and systems capable of supporting a growing payee base and help administer compensation plans as CodeRabbit transitions to a consumption model. The manager will work directly with GTM and Finance leadership and partner with RevOps, People, Payroll, and Sales and Customer Success leadership. The role includes rebuilding compensation calculators, improving data quality and visibility, applying AI and automation to anomaly detection and reconciliation, and eventually leading requirements, vendor selection, and implementation for an incentive compensation management platform. The position also supports accruals, month-end close, and audit readiness.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of hands-on sales compensation administration experience, ideally at a fast-scaling SaaS company.
  • Experience independently running a full commissions cycle and owning its outcomes.
  • Experience with consumption-based or hybrid commit-plus-usage models and understanding of how plan mechanics influence seller behavior.
  • Fluency in quotas, OTE, accelerators, overlays, SPIFFs, crediting rules, draws, and prorations.
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills, including the ability to build a complex calculator.
  • Strong data validation instincts and proficiency with Salesforce.
  • Clear writing for audiences ranging from frustrated sales representatives to vice presidents.
  • Daily comfort with AI tools and sound judgment about where automation is useful.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to run reliable processes with minimal oversight.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience configuring CaptivateIQ, Xactly, Spiff, QuotaPath, SAP Callidus, or a similar platform.
  • Exposure to ASC 340-40 or audit controls.
  • Experience supporting multiple entities or non-US payees.
  • Experience establishing a compensation function from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly and quarterly commissions cycle, from participant setup through calculation, validation, and payroll submission.
  • Identify anomalies before payroll runs and ensure payments are accurate and timely.
  • Investigate compensation disputes, crediting errors, quota misalignments, and payout escalations, and address their root causes.
  • Administer compensation plans across six payee groups, including issuing and tracking plans, operationalizing SPIFFs and accelerators, and managing mid-cycle changes, splits, draws, true-ups, prorations, and departures.
  • Write plan documents, policies, and FAQs that are clear to sellers and managers.
  • Administer compensation tied to bookings and usage, including commit, ramp, and true-up logic, and pressure-test new plan mechanics.
  • Rebuild spreadsheet calculators with controls and an audit trail, maintain clean data across Salesforce, the HRIS, and payroll, and use AI and automation for anomaly detection and reconciliation.
  • Build dashboards that let sellers, managers, and Finance view attainment and payouts.
  • Lead requirements, vendor selection, and implementation when the company selects an incentive compensation management platform.
  • Support accruals and month-end close with Finance, including ASC 340-40, and partner with RevOps, People, Payroll, and Sales and Customer Success leadership.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, equity, and benefits.
  • Professional development opportunities.
