About The Position

The Manager, Risk & Compliance is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the University’s risk management and compliance activities. Reporting to the Senior Director, Enterprise Risk Management, this position ensures that claims, incidents, insurance requirements, and compliance obligations are efficiently managed and resolved. In this role, the Manager serves as a key point of contact for faculty, staff, and external partners, providing responsive support, practical guidance, and excellent customer service. The position is responsible for incident intake, review, and fact-gathering, claims tracking, insurance administration, compliance monitoring, and reporting. This position also supports the university's Enterprise Risk Management framework, including loss prevention and risk mitigation activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the University’s insurance programs by coordinating annual renewal data collection and supporting underwriting submissions through the organization and analysis of exposure data.
  • Reviews contracts to ensure compliance with standard insurance, indemnification, and risk transfer requirements in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Issues, manages, and reviews certificates of insurance (COIs) for vendors, contractors, and third parties to ensure alignment with institutional requirements.
  • Administers the University’s international travel accident insurance program, including supporting travelers and study abroad programs, maintaining trip tracking records, and contributing to risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provides clear, practical guidance to campus partners on insurance requirements, including developing job aids and training materials as needed.
  • Coordinates Builders Risk policy requirements with relevant stakeholders and contractors.
  • Administers the full lifecycle of claims, including intake, documentation, tracking, and follow-up, with responsibility for claims related to the international travel program.
  • Coordinates workers’ compensation cases by facilitating communication among employees, supervisors, and Human Resources.
  • Serves as a primary liaison with insurers, brokers, and third-party administrators.
  • Maintains accurate, complete claim files and ensures timely reporting and resolution.
  • Monitors claim activity, reserves, and status updates, escalating issues as needed.
  • Coordinates the collection and analysis of post-incident data (e.g., incident reports, vehicle footage) to evaluate events, identify root causes, and recommend strategies to reduce future losses.
  • Serves as the primary point of intake for incident reports, ensuring timely submission and accurate documentation.
  • Tracks incidents through resolution, identifying insurance notification requirements and escalating concerns as appropriate.
  • Partners with the Associate Director for Risk & Safety to support loss prevention and risk management initiatives.
  • Monitors compliance requirements and key deadlines in support of the Director of Global Safety & Compliance, ensuring institutional obligations are met.
  • Maintains organized, audit-ready records and centralized documentation across insurance, claims, incidents, and compliance activities.
  • Develops regular reports and dashboards for leadership to highlight trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Supports the University’s Enterprise Risk Management program by assisting with risk identification, assessment, and documentation processes.
  • Maintains and updates the institutional risk register to ensure information is accurate and well organized.
  • Prepares ERM materials and summaries for leadership review, tracks risk mitigation actions, and follows up with responsible stakeholders on progress.
  • Assists in facilitating periodic risk assessments and surveys across departments.
