About The Position

BDO Canada LLP is looking for a Manager, Risk Advisory Services to join the BDO’s Risk Advisory team in Toronto. This is a replacement role and presents an excellent opportunity to contribute to a well-established practice within a collaborative and client-focused environment. The Risk Advisory team endeavors to identify the most significant issues facing our clients with the objective of helping them understand what these risks are and how these risks could impact their business and/or operations. As part of the team, you will be challenged to analyze new and emerging trends in the management, business, risk, legal, environmental, social, and governance landscapes, examine how our clients can mitigate the impact to their business, and help them determine how they can leverage these trends as new opportunities. Our work takes the form of internal control advisory and assessments, internal audits, enterprise risk management, governance and process improvement, and more.

Requirements

  • Completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration or in a related field.
  • Completed or are actively pursuing a professional designation (CPA, CIA, CISA, etc.).
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in risk advisory services or other related field.
  • Strong understanding of internal control environments and enterprise risk management frameworks.
  • Can diagnose project issues, build solutions, and draft impactful communications for clients.
  • Display strong problem solving, leadership, and writing and communication skills.
  • Can prioritize workload based on priorities and have the flexibility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Possess strong time management skills.
  • Can thrive in a collaborative organization and environment.
  • Display exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and presentation skills for internal/external purposes.
  • Focused on goals, results, and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engagement teams to plan and provide risk advisory services engagements to clients.
  • Oversee the review, documentation, evaluation and assessment of compliance, effectiveness and efficiency of business processes, internal controls, and initiatives in a wide range of environments.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients, acting as a key point of contact, and identify improvements for future engagements.
  • Actively support and assist the team in pursuing business development opportunities, including proposals and presentations.
  • Maintain a proactive and logical approach to information gathering and analysis and present complex ideas through clear written and communications.
  • Review key deliverables and provide feedback to staff to ensure deliverables provided to our clients are of the highest quality and in accordance with relevant standards.
  • Develop/refresh methodologies related to existing and new solutions and services.
  • Manage project timelines, scopes, and budgets to ensure they are provided on time, on schedule, and within budget as much as possible.
  • Support team capacity planning, budgeting and engagement resourcing.
  • Ensure high quality client service by monitoring daily progress of fieldwork.
  • Mentor and provide support and guidance to colleagues.
  • Demonstrate managerial skills in working with high-performing teams.
