About The Position

As our Respiratory Care Manager, you will lead our Respiratory Care technical staff, providing instruction and evaluation, while assisting the Director in department management. This role also includes direct patient care as needed. Every day you will supervise, instruct, and evaluate Respiratory Care Practitioners. You'll assist the Director in overall department management and provide direct patient care. Daily contacts include subordinates, co-workers, patients, medical staff, and physicians. To be successful, you will demonstrate strong leadership, instructional, and evaluative skills, with advanced clinical expertise in respiratory care. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for staff supervision and interdisciplinary contact are essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Other Respiratory Care or 5 years experience working as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in an acute care setting. Candidate may be considered with Associates Degree in lieu of Bachelors degree depending on experience. However, Bachelors degree must be obtained within 2 years of hire.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: CA, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire (Must be through the American Heart Association)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire (Must be through the American Heart Association)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, upon hire (Must be through the American Heart Association)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, instruct, and evaluate Respiratory Care Practitioners.
  • Assist the Director in overall department management.
  • Provide direct patient care as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Respiratory Care to incorporate protocols and implement clinical best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission standards and CLIA regulations for the Blood Gas Laboratory.
  • Develop and implement the annual competency program, ensuring the clinical expertise of all staff.
  • Perform monthly and daily scheduling to assure appropriate staffing levels, while maintaining productivity and budgeting targets.
  • Complete timecards to assure appropriate payment for hours worked.
  • Audit staff charges, charting and orders to assure compliance for all regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in hiring and onboarding new staff members.
  • Assist with staff discipline in compliance with policies and procedures.
