About The Position

Responsible for the overall leadership, direction, operations, and clinical excellence of the Respiratory Care Department. Provides strategic and operational oversight for respiratory therapy services, including inpatient, outpatient, pulmonary diagnostics, pulmonary rehabilitation, and related cardiopulmonary services. Ensures delivery of high-quality, safe, efficient, and patient-centered care while maintaining regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, staff engagement, and alignment with organizational goals. In collaboration with VP, formulates, implements, reviews, and revises departmental policies and procedures, competency programs, quality assurance initiatives, and the Near-Patient Care Testing Program. Serves as a clinical and operational resource for critical care areas, advanced therapies, new technologies, and Meditech workflows. Provides strategic leadership to support departmental growth, staff development, and organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive clinical experience in respiratory care.
  • At least three (3) years in a supervisory, leadership, or management role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or related healthcare field.
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Current New Jersey Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage budgets, analyze operational data, and drive quality improvement initiatives.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Acute care hospital leadership experience.
  • Experience in cardiopulmonary diagnostics, pulmonary rehabilitation, sleep medicine, and program development.
  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT).
  • Experience with MEDITECH, labor management systems, regulatory survey readiness, and cardiopulmonary program development.
