About The Position

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Manager Resource Planning & Analysis. This role is responsible for leading the development and publication of the Company’s Integrated System Plan (ISP) in accordance with WUTC rules, supporting successful electric and natural gas resource acquisitions. The manager will lead a team of analysts and project managers to identify, analyze, and communicate policy, regulatory, and market uncertainties affecting the Company’s long-term resource portfolio strategy. This role requires maintaining credibility with stakeholders through clear communication of ISP results, providing oversight for ISP deliverables, ensuring technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and clarity. Strong project management skills are essential to manage a complex, cross-functional plan in an evolving scope. The position also upholds safety compliance standards and promotes a culture of total safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, engineering, finance, economics, business administration or other related field.
  • 10 years experience in energy related industry including experience performing of complex policy and technical analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills to effectively and efficiently analyze a wide array of resource planning issues.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and cultivate strong working relationships with contractual counterparties, regulators and other industry participants.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage complex projects.
  • Proficient with suite of word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Math, or related field.
  • Experience using long-term resource modeling software such as Aurora, Sendout, or similar models.
  • Proficient with presentation software applications and excellent presentation skills are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the development and publication of the Company’s Integrated System Plan (ISP).
  • Leading a team of analysts and project managers to identify, analyze, and communicate policy, regulatory, and market uncertainties.
  • Maintaining credibility with internal and external stakeholders through clear communication of ISP results.
  • Providing oversight and hands-on support for the development of ISP deliverables, including writing, editing, and reviewing the final ISP document.
  • Coordinating contributions from subject matter experts and ensuring clear communication of complex analytical results.
  • Applying strong project management and organizational skills to ensure delivery of a complex, cross-functional plan.
  • Supporting the project management team in coordinating daily activities and ensuring timely documentation.
  • Identifying analytical discrepancies, risks, and gaps, escalating issues, and driving timely decisions.
  • Upholding safety compliance standards and promoting a culture of total safety.
  • Providing employees with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams.
  • Promoting and supporting a culture of total safety including eliminating at-risk behaviors.
  • Setting clear expectations and holding employees accountable for performance and safety goals.
  • Overseeing training and development of employees and making effective staffing decisions.
  • Ensuring required training is successfully completed.

  • Providing coaching, direction, and leadership support to team members.
  • Managing a group of highly qualified analysts and project managers to produce the Company’s Integrated System Plan.
  • Leading group of Project Managers that support and drive the analytical deadlines, preferred portfolio development and documentation of the ISP.
  • Leading development of analytical frameworks to perform gas resource analyses.
  • Communicating ISP content and progress with WUTC staff, internal and external stakeholders, and PSE senior management.
  • Leading efforts to ensure key policy issues and market uncertainties are identified and addressed in resource planning processes.
  • Ensuring collaboration and consensus for ISP issues and analytical methods.
  • Working closely with various departments to ensure consistency.
  • Preparing and managing departmental and programmatic budgets.
  • Functioning as PSE’s subject matter expert in regional or national forums.
  • Supporting Regulatory Affairs regarding resource planning matters.
  • Formulating and conducting presentations to PSE Executives and Industry.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
