About The Position

This manager position in the Penn Cytomics and Cell Sorting SRL, a resource of the Abramson Cancer Center, coordinates and performs highly complex flow cytometry training and education to support basic and translational research across the University of Pennsylvania. This position demands extensive expertise in all aspects of analytical cytometry and cell sorting, especially high-dimensional panel design. The manager is expected to be proficient in a wide range of BD instrumentation, including FACSymphony platforms, FACSAria/Aria Fusion, and Discover A8/S8 imaging platforms, as well as FACSDiva and FACSChorus software programs.

Requirements

  • Master of Science and 5 to 7 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely as training/education lead with the Directors of Penn Cytomics to develop and operationalize a robust training program.
  • Coordinating staff and instrument availability for timely, successful completion of training modules.
  • Development, implementation, and adherence to rigorous SOP to achieve uniformity and reproducibility of training.
  • Improve and revitalize a comprehensive curriculum that includes didactic as well as hands on sessions.
  • Work closely with program leaders and individuals to deliver state-of-the-art cytomic training.
  • Consult with investigators in designing cytomic experiments, performing the experiments, analyzing the data and preparing figures and sections of grants and manuscripts.
  • Interact with high-level internal and external collaborators, including Penn’s Center for Cellular Immunotherapies, I3H, and Waters (formerly BD Biosciences).
  • Make presentations not only institutionally, but also at the national and international levels.
