About The Position

This role participates in the design, execution, analysis and evaluation of health-related projects. This role manages activities associated with biomedical and/or social-behavioral research studies and special projects considered very complex by the inclusion of several of the following: multiple investigators, teams, sites, sub-contracts, participants, longitudinal assessments/ interventions; and/or multi-million-dollar budgets. The Research Programs Manager ensures completion of contract requirements and client specifications. Oversees day-to-day operations including identifying and securing needed resources; creating, implementing, monitoring, and updating project plans; facilitating meetings with appropriate parties; tracking tasks/deliverables to ensure timelines, milestones and/or goals are attained; monitoring and reporting progress as appropriate; and resolving or escalating issues in a timely manner. The Research Programs Manager will advise other research assistants to best support faculty, resident physicians and medical student’s research and community engaged projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in social or health science or related field
  • Five (5) years of human subject research experience
  • Two (2) years of project coordination experience
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills
  • Flexibility in responding to new research opportunities as they arise
  • Problem solving
  • Proficiency in data analysis software
  • High personal motivation, self-management, and detail-orientation
  • Ability to take responsibility in meeting deadlines and making progress without direct supervision
  • Strong existing computer skills with Microsoft Office, Excel, statistical software, and general internet and electronic communications
  • Articulate and tactful communication skills; readiness to meet and work directly with clients, team members and community members

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree
  • Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification
  • Experience writing IRB submission, protocol development, data collection, and data analysis
  • Experience writing grant applications and proposals
  • Experience developing grant budgets and managing grant funding

Responsibilities

  • Manages research and community engaged projects
  • Maintains project schedules and calendars
  • Oversees completion of study and project activities per protocol
  • Ensures that study and project protocols are in compliance with appropriate rules and regulations and reviews study and project progress and recommends revisions, amendments, and/or other study and project changes as necessary to better meet needs of sponsors
  • Reviews scientific literature and evaluates and recommends applicable techniques and procedures.
  • May create and/or manage research study and project budget which may include deciding on and approving expenditures of funds based on budget.
  • Purchases project supplies, materials, equipment and services
  • Directs, assigns duties to and may supervise study project personnel and research assistants
  • Assists with academic research, health related program development and community engagement
  • Assists with the editing and preparation of manuscripts
  • Facilitates services provided to researchers in a broad array of areas including, clinical trials, biostatistics, data analysis
  • Assists in hiring of grant funded research personnel
  • Creates data for use in grant submission and develop new proposals for research including obtaining financial support
  • Ensures that all study and project documents associated with current local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws and research protocols are completed in a timely manner.
  • Prepares materials for IRB (Institutional Review Board)
  • Arranges and attends meetings, seminars, symposia and other events related to the core activities
  • Attends program related community meetings and performs outreach
  • Gathers and analyzes data
  • Contributes to the development of project related web material, educational materials, and social media content
  • Engages community partners to participate in community engaged research and other health related projects
