About The Position

The Real Estate & Workplace Services (REWS) Project Management Office Manager (PMO Mgr.) will support Exact Science’s (EXAS) mission to eradicate cancer by providing strong leadership to a project management team. The PMO Manager will lead a project team to support a portfolio consisting of projects to create new or improve existing world-class laboratories and collaboration spaces. This role oversees and optimizes project management resources and ensures sound processes are in place to successfully meet business and project objectives. The PMO Manager will ensure PMs are maintaining accurate information for project reporting. The PMO Manager leads, supports, coaches, and assists PMs to improve their skills in successful project delivery to drive value to patients, stakeholders, and EXAS. This role will drive the team to adopt and apply industry best practices to maximize value. The PMO Manager must develop and maintain strong relationships across the business and with external service providers to reconcile program and project resource requirements, monitor and communicate project status, and ensure project objectives are being met. The PMO Manager must demonstrate resourcefulness, creativity, agility, and mature judgment in leading the team to meet objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management or 15 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 10+ years of project management experience on design and construction projects in the life sciences, manufacturing, or industrial industries.
  • 5+ years of experience in people management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, and Visio.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards such as IBC, ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, ADA.
  • Experience with OSHA, EPA, FDA, CAP/CLIA regulations required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with PMs and stakeholders to successfully deliver a portfolio of REFS projects that support business objectives.
  • Lead PMs in the process of gathering capital project needs across the business to support capital planning.
  • Lead PMs in maintaining accurate capital project information such as conceptual scopes, budgets, and project justifications, to support the effective prioritization of projects.
  • Provide support to assist leadership in decision-making.
  • Partner with Project Controls, Accounting, and Finance to produce accurate reporting including project status, spend forecasts, and accruals, to proactively identify cost risk.
  • Ensure PMs maintain portfolio-level dashboards and reporting with accurate project status, budget, and risk information for stakeholders.
  • Lead PMs to proactively identify, mitigate project risk, and resolve issues.
  • Optimize PM resources to successfully meet the portfolio and project objectives.
  • Oversee and manage projects as necessary to support meeting objectives.
  • Continuously improve project management methodologies, processes, training, infrastructure, and tools to maximize the value delivered by projects.
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with external service providers to ensure adequate expertise and resources are available.
  • Lead the project team in partnering with procurement and legal resources to select the best partners, maximize value, and deliver on commitments to stakeholders.
  • Work through ambiguous situations to successfully drive decision-making.
  • Support and assist PMs to communicate effectively with executive leadership.
  • Develop and grow PM’s analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, team building, inclusion, diplomacy, delegation, and enthusiasm.

  • Ensure PMs are effective in engaging the right stakeholders to gather requirements, obtain design input, and deliver turnover requirements.
  • Increase the team's skills in balancing cost, quality, and schedule to meet project objectives.
  • Drive skills improvements in areas such as project planning, scheduling, design, and construction oversight.
  • Maintains confidentiality as required.
  • Supports compliance with the EXAS Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Supports compliance with EXAS Security and EHS policies and procedures.
  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
  • Ability to perform on-site walks for project requests and troubleshooting purposes as required.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Regular and reliable attendance and ability to travel away from base location 10% of the time.
