About The Position

Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for a Manager, Quality Systems Improvement to join our Quality Improvement Department. This position is a full-time opportunity based out of our regional office located in Washington, D.C. (Capitol Hill) with a hybrid work model. Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group is comprised of more than 1,700 Permanente physicians and nearly 300 staff professionals who come together to make a positive impact on the health and lives of more than 800,000 members in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Reporting to the Senior Director, Quality Improvement, the Manager, Quality Systems Improvement provides strategic and operational leadership across regional quality improvement functions. In this role, you will lead and develop quality improvement team members while overseeing scalable, data-driven systems that support Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) outcomes, preventive care performance, population care management, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a health-related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in healthcare quality improvement, population health, or clinical operations.
  • 2+ years of leadership or team management experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading system-level quality improvement efforts with measurable impact on performance outcomes, such as HEDIS, preventive care, and population management.
  • Experience partnering with physicians, senior leaders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare quality improvement, population health, and performance measurement.
  • Strong people management, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Experience using data, dashboards, and performance reporting to support strategic decision-making.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and data-enabled care models.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Must be able to commute to Washington D.C., a minimum of one day per week.
  • Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
  • Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop Quality Improvement Specialists and Quality Systems Improvement Leads through coaching, performance management, and professional development.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of regional quality systems, workflows, tools, and measurement approaches.
  • Partner with physician leaders, operational leaders, analytics teams, and technology teams to align quality priorities with organizational goals.
  • Provide strategic oversight for initiatives that improve HEDIS performance, preventive care delivery, population health outcomes, and care gap closure.
  • Use dashboards, performance reports, and analytic insights to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure quality improvement activities comply with ethical, legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
  • Support the use of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and enterprise technologies to strengthen quality systems and population care workflows.
