About The Position

The Manager of Quality & Risk is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading Patient Safety and Risk Management initiatives at CHOC. The role is based in Orange, California, and works a day shift of 8 hours.

Requirements

At least three years of previous risk management experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Strong written and oral communication and facilitation skills.
Statistical knowledge.
Ability to establish and maintain effective professional and interpersonal relationships with all levels of the organization and patient families.
Knowledge and experience with Joint Commission Standards.
Ability to problem-solve, analyze situations, think critically, and give constructive feedback.
Ability to set goals and judge results against high standards; provide sensitive and respectful care; promote teamwork; and understand and exceed customer expectations.
Excellent facilitation and consultation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Over four years of previous risk management experience.
Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related health or quality field.
CPHRM certification.
Law degree.
Background or training in Human Factors Engineering.
Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and lead Patient Safety and Risk Management initiatives.
Participate constructively with senior management, physicians, and Associates in devising, analyzing, implementing, and evaluating patient safety opportunities.
Advance risk management through developing new ideas and refining processes.
Promote teamwork to achieve CHOC’s mission and understand and exceed customer expectations.
