About The Position

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Quality Manager to provide Quality leadership and manage QA teams supporting site, customer, and manufacturing operations. This role involves coordinating site quality certifications, customer quality, manufacturing quality, supply-chain monitoring process development, and quality initiatives. The manager will lead a team to support site quality systems development and continual improvement, maintain ISO9001 and AS9100 certifications, manage customer failure analysis, coordinate customer audits, support reliability activities during new product introduction, ensure manufacturing quality through inspections and fault analysis, assist the supply chain with corrective actions and supplier assessments, and collaborate with process engineering on new process development and training. The role also includes providing factory awareness training for ESD and FOD programs and operator certifications, and facilitating a culture of continual improvement. Experience in qualifying and certifying products to MIL-PRF 38535 and maintaining site Lab Suitability and Quality Management Plan is essential.

Requirements

  • US Person - This job requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States. Candidates are required to provide proof of US citizenship.
  • Four-year degree (preferably Electrical Engineering) or 10+ years equivalent experience in manufacturing or quality.
  • 7+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of managing and supervisory experience.
  • Proven experience in application of Six Sigma and 8D methodologies and tools to determine root cause and corrective action implementation for internal/external issues.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining site Quality Management System, enabling the site to maintain its ISO9001 and AS9100 certifications.
  • Experience in managing and partnering with suppliers including – qualification, auditing, measuring, continual improvement.
  • Full understanding of the audit process including types of audits, planning, preparation, execution, reporting results, and follow-up.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Quality leadership and manage QA teams supporting site, customer and manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinate site quality certifications, customer quality, manufacturing quality, supply-chain monitoring process development and quality initiatives.
  • Support site quality systems development and continual improvement, working within the site teams to maintain ISO9001, AS9100 certifications and other industry standards.
  • Manage the Site Quality Management Plan to comply with MIL-PRF 38535 requirements.
  • Handle Customer Failure Analysis requests, to determine root cause, implementing corrective/preventive actions for returns and/or complaints.
  • Manage any site visits by customers for quality related concerns.
  • Coordinate and support customer audits in support of their AVL requirements.
  • Support Reliability activities during new product introduction, qualification planning, MTBF/FIT calculations.
  • Ensure Manufacturing quality by completing in process inspections, MRB fault analysis, root cause, CAPA, and awareness training.
  • Support the supply-chain with corrective actions for non-conforming materials, new material/product first article assessments/test plans, and review potential new suppliers through surveys and on-site audits.
  • Collaborate with process engineering with development and implementation of new processes, including documentation and personnel training.
  • Provide factory awareness training for ESD and FOD programs, as well as provide operator specialist certifications to IPC-610 and J-STD-001 quality requirements.
  • Facilitate continual improvement and learning culture across all functional areas through training and communication of quality initiatives.
  • Qualify and certify products to MIL-PRF 38535 and maintain site Lab Suitability and Quality Management Plan, including QMP maintenance, TRB management, SMD audits, supplier qualification and audits, records management processes.
