About The Position

Generates internal and external awareness of the agency and enhances its image through communications and promotions. Assists with creating a vision for Goodwill’s marketing and communications efforts and supports the execution of the annual communications plan across all divisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or Public Relations
  • four to five years of professional work experience in marketing, communications, public relations or related activities
  • at least two years’ experience in writing press releases and articles using AP Style
  • Valid Driver's License (Class C), car insurance and reliable automobile required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements public relations campaigns to generate awareness of Goodwill and enhance the organization’s image both internally and externally.
  • Maintains media lists, schedules media interviews, organizes media tours, drafts press releases, drafts talking points, monitors media coverage and proactively manages editorial calendars to pitch and publicize Goodwill news.
  • Manages the development, production, and distribution of the President & CEO’s bimonthly update video (ALL In), the COO’s bimonthly update video, and their recap communications, with the support of the Senior Marketing & Communications Specialist.
  • Leads the development and execution of internal communication strategies that support organizational priorities and empowers internal business partners to achieve engagement from team members.
  • Executes the organization’s brand journalism, storytelling, and content marketing efforts. Serves as the primary editorial writer for website, annual report, newsletters, videos, and other channels as needed.
  • Gathers and generates content for internal and external communications as needed and oversees content creation by the Senior Marketing & Communications Specialist.
  • Convenes and guides the cross-functional internal communications team, leveraging this group's voice to drive continuous improvements in how information is shared with team members through communication channels.
  • Identifies and develops testimonials from Goodwill training program participants and team members to support the organization’s mission through communication.
  • Maintains editorial standards for the organization. Serves as a primary copyeditor for all external and internal communications, and verifies all content is consistent with brand and editorial standards, AP style and key messages.
  • Reviews and edits communications that come through the department's ticket request system.
  • Manage the quality, reach and content of key internal communication channels including team member newsletter, e-newsletters, intranet, text messaging, and digital screens.
  • Supports the Director of Brand Experience with crisis communications management including media monitoring, brand risk assessment, development of necessary communications materials and management of the organization’s crisis communications manual.
  • Serves as a member of the Crisis Communications Team, advising key organization leaders in potential or existing communication or brand crises.
  • Partners with key stakeholder groups across different functional areas to provide support and counsel on messaging and positioning to ensure communications are compelling, aligned to organizational goals and engage key audiences, internal and external.
  • Partners with influencers, subject matter experts, and organizational leaders on media relations, developing tailored talking points and conducting mock interviews to prepare them for successful media engagements.
  • Assists with the development and execution of marketing plans for donation drives, store openings, trade shows, special sales, job fairs and other events.
  • Coordinates and measures the public relations efforts or campaigns supporting special events.
  • Research and stays abreast of traditional and online media pitch opportunities.
  • Develops monthly PR highlight reports and sends to Director of Brand Experience and ELT.
  • Assists in the research and development of marketing campaigns.
  • Directly supervises the Marketing and Communications Specialist.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Agency's policies and procedures.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and budget development and management.
  • Assists with planning and development of annual planning.
  • Serves on cross-divisional and external teams as assigned by Director of Brand Experience.
  • Performs other job-related tasks as assigned by Director of Brand Experience.
