About The Position

The North America Capital Project Manager plays a critical leadership role in supporting the execution of major maintenance activities across all sub-regions and industrial gas technologies in the US and Canada. This role will be best served out of our HQ location in Pennsylvania or Texas but has flexibility for other regions. The primary responsibility of the Capital Project Manager is to actively own the Project organization, advising a team of project engineers and managers supporting all production facilities within NA. Working closely with senior operations line and technical management, ensure alignment with business objectives and effective coordination of engineering resources, while driving consistency in completion of maintenance activities. This includes improving execution efficiency, developing effective maintenance tools and methodologies, and developing a talent pipeline ultimately driving consistency throughout the organization, resulting in plant reliability improvements and a decrease in spending. This position is a key leadership member of the Project Resource and Outage Support (PROS) Group working with the N.A. Operations Director. The PROS group is a team with multifaceted strengths that supports maintenance, capital projects, strategic planning, and turnaround execution. This allows our team to provide niche services and additional capacity for operational assets. The performance measures of maintenance include Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) performance, reliability of the assets, completion on schedule, and spending within budget.

Requirements

  • Strong industrial maintenance or project management experience of large multi team sites.
  • Effective and Strong leader.
  • Organized, focused, able to perform under pressure and prioritize multiple priorities and parallel tasks.
  • Understands quality standards as outlined by Air Products and regulatory agencies.
  • Able to achieve various State mandated certifications, TWIC, and other requirements as may be deemed vital.
  • Prioritize “Zero is achievable” safety policy in words and actions to protect self, others, and the environment.
  • High ethical standards - unwilling to compromise on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrates positive, encouraging, and coordinated behavior in interacting with co-workers, supervisors and management.
  • Maintains confidentiality of written and verbal information pertaining to Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., its staff, management and participating onsite affiliates.
  • Able to work without close supervision.

  • 15+ years’ validated experience in maintenance and/or engineering teams, preferably with experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs, ISO’s, piping isometrics, fixed equipment design packages, and pipe specs.
  • Strong shown understanding of operating plant systems.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and business software, including Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook) OneNote, SAP, Primavera P6.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in science, engineering, or project management is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Support Air Products Management of Change process, recognizing plant changes and following through on all documentation and recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Develop tools and philosophies that enable your team to drive consistency in the execution of maintenance activities across NA
  • Define common critical metrics to measure maintenance performance
  • Establish work processes that standardize the use of project systems, including budgeting and forecasting tools, SAP, outage planning, and resource scheduling
  • Responsible for direct supervision of (6) Subregional Capital Project Managers and several authority engineers.
