About The Position

The Manager, Program, will perform as an administrator to develop, implement, and administer specific programs as directed. This role involves managing assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel in one or more sections of the department, taking responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned teams. The position requires carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district’s policies and applicable state and federal laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems. All district employees are expected to demonstrate regular and predictable attention to the work, support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan, engage in civility, respect, and professionalism, and maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform their duties.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in social service or education program development, implementation, or evaluation required.
  • Experience in social service or education program development, implementation, or evaluation may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the college education requirement.
  • College credit may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the experience requirement.
  • Reads and interprets general business and professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations.
  • Writes reports, correspondence, and manuals.
  • Effectively presents and responds to questions from managers and the public.
  • Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of relevant and current computer software programs.
  • Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.
  • Lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Reaching with both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
  • This position requires traveling to various school sites, work locations, and/or community organizations throughout the district.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in management information systems and data collection and analysis preferred.
  • Knowledge of educational systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Possesses knowledge of program direction and goals.
  • Manages program requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of other written information that is necessary for implementation of such programs.
  • Assists supervisors, directors, teachers, and parents with program requirements, and expectations.
  • Acts as liaison and coordinates program strategies with other departments.
  • Coordinates budget and maintains fiscal responsibility of program funds.
  • Formulates hiring/training program and manuals as needed.
  • Supervises subordinates as necessary.
  • Provides assessment and follow up of programs in the form of written reports.
  • Provides high-level independent judgement.
  • Serves on boards and advisory committees for various agencies, community organizations, universities, and the Florida Department of Education.
  • Collects and analyzes data.
  • Prepares written reports.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
