The Endocrine Society is the world’s oldest and largest organization of scientists devoted to hormone research and physicians who care for people with hormone-related conditions. Reporting to the Director, Professional and Clinical Affairs, the Manager, Professional Development is responsible for leading assigned professional development programs and committee liaison work within a portfolio-based operating model. This role supports early career and in-training member engagement through programs such as the Early Career Forum (ECF), Endocrine Mentor Day (eMD), Research Experiences for Graduate and Medical Students (REGMS), and assigned early career awards and networking activities. The Manager leads program planning, implementation, participant engagement, volunteer and mentor coordination, evaluation support, reporting, and cross-departmental collaboration for assigned programs. The role requires strong project management and technology skills; comfort using member databases, project management software, virtual meeting platforms, and general program administration tools; and the judgment, professionalism, and communication skills needed to represent the Society independently during travel and member-facing activities.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • Experience in program/project management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to work with a diverse group of stakeholders (staff, committee members, learners, collaborators, etc.).
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, and service orientation when working independently, traveling on behalf of the organization, and communicating with members, medical school partners, faculty, students, trainees, fellows, and early career members.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize competing deadlines, develop workplans, manage timelines, track deliverables, coordinate stakeholders, document decisions, and follow through under pressure.
  • Strong technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, member databases, project management software, virtual meeting platforms, and general program administration tools.
  • Comfortable planning and facilitating in-person events, Zoom meetings, and virtual engagement sessions with members, including faculty, students, board members, and committee members.

Responsibilities

  • Leads assigned early career and in-training programs, including Early Career Forum (ECF), eMD, REGMS, and related networking or engagement activities; manages application and review processes, participant communications, mentor and faculty coordination, workshop and event execution, ongoing engagement, and post-program follow-up.
  • Manages program logistics and represents the Society professionally during annual 3–5 day in-person conference, and several 3-day in-person workshops or similar program events. Uses sound judgment, discretion, and clear communication to address questions, identify issues, and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Supports grant and funded program deliverables by ensuring activities align with funder policies and criteria, collecting program data and outcomes, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to interim reports, presentations, and year-end evaluation materials.
  • Collaborates with Marketing, Development and Strategic Partnerships, Meetings, Education, Finance, Governance, and other cross-functional teams to coordinate timelines, deliverables, participant-facing materials, website content, reporting needs, and program communications.
  • Manages the processing of honoraria and travel reimbursements.
  • Manages the reconciliation process with our finance department.
  • Maintains accurate program, award, participant, engagement, reporting, and evaluation information in the Society’s website, member database, project management tools, and related program systems.
  • Provides responsive, member-centered customer service to applicants, participants, medical students, trainees, fellows, early career members, faculty, and volunteers by answering questions clearly, connecting individuals to appropriate resources, and following through on commitments.
  • Maintains shared planning tools, templates, timelines, dashboards, project management platforms, and documentation to support consistency, continuity, and reporting across the Professional Development portfolio.
  • Serves as liaison or staff lead for assigned committees or work groups, including TCDCC and other groups as assigned, ensuring committee work is connected to broader Professional & Clinical Affairs goals and program priorities.
  • Manages committee meetings, conference calls, and virtual engagement sessions with faculty, students, board members, and committee members; develops agendas, prepares materials, facilitates discussion, documents decisions and next steps, and drafts minutes or reports as needed.
