About The Position

Bentley Systems is the infrastructure engineering software company, advancing the world's infrastructure – sustaining both the global economy and the environment. Within Bentley, the Design organization shapes meaningful experiences – from brand to in-product interactions – with clarity, coherence, and craft. You'll be part of the Digital Design team — a group of designers, and problem-solvers focused on transforming Bentley’s digital experience. In this role, you'll lead design across Bentley's buying experience — working closely with Marketing, Digital, Sales, and Engineering to shape how users discover, evaluate, and purchase our products – from first touchpoint through to checkout. This is a leadership role for someone who is equally invested in their people, their craft, and their impact. You'll develop a high-performing team, drive a more coherent buying experience, and ensure the work you ship moves the needle for Bentley's growth.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in UX, UI, or Product Design, with 3+ years managing or leading designers
  • Experience leading transformation-scale design work – consolidating experiences, rethinking journeys end to end, and bringing cross-functional teams along for the ride
  • Strong track record contributing to digital buying or growth experiences – ecommerce, conversion flows, content-led journeys, or equivalent
  • A genuine people leader who invests in their team's growth, creates clarity, and holds high standards without creating fear
  • Strong facilitation skills – you know how to create alignment across functions and turn ambiguity into a shared direction
  • Comfortable working within a broader strategic framework – translating vision into delivery and keeping the team focused on the right problems
  • A solid foundation across UX, UI, and interaction design – enough to coach others, spot quality issues, and know when to bring in specialist support
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills – you make complexity accessible without oversimplifying it
  • A practical, data-informed approach: you know when to follow the data and when to push back on it
  • Fluency in modern design tools (Figma, Miro, Adobe CC) and genuine curiosity about how AI is changing the craft

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the team: Coach and develop your Designers through regular 1:1s, honest feedback, and genuine investment in their careers. Create the conditions for great work — shared clarity on priorities, the safety to experiment, and high standards for craft. Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and supporting performance across the portfolio.
  • Drive experience transformation: Lead the Design work to consolidate and reimagine Bentley's buying experiences — bringing fragmented journeys together into something coherent, considered, and conversion-focused. Use design thinking and facilitation to align teams and turn that alignment into experiences that are clear, trustworthy, and effective at every touchpoint.
  • Drive outcomes, not just outputs: Work cross-functionally to define what good looks like — conversion, engagement, drop-off, user confidence — and connect your team's design decisions directly to those metrics. Draw on data and user insight to understand where experiences are underperforming and why. Make outcome-thinking part of how the team works every day.
  • Own discovery and delivery: Hold both ends of the process with equal rigour. Discovery means deeply understanding the problem before designing the solution — through research, usability evaluation, and talking to real users. Delivery means shipping work that performs, iterating based on evidence, and maintaining quality under pressure. Your laser focused on building a team that does both well.
  • Raise the bar for design quality: Set high expectations across UX, UI, interaction design, IA, accessibility, and content clarity. Coach designers to think about the person on the other side — their psychology, their hesitations, the moments where trust is won or lost. Contribute to the design system as a foundation for consistency and scale.
  • Build a culture of experimentation: Make testing and learning a normal part of how the team works — not an exception. Create space for fast, low-cost experiments and use what you find to make better decisions faster.
  • Be a strong collaborative voice across disciplines: Communicate decisions, trade-offs, and rationale clearly — in commercial rooms and design rooms alike. Bring the user perspective into every shared conversation and help the wider team make better decisions because design is at the table.
  • Help define design in an AI-augmented world: Help your team explore and integrate AI tools in ways that genuinely improve the work — faster exploration, sharper synthesis, less time on repetitive production. And be the person leading the charge on where AI helps, and where human judgment needs to lead?
