About The Position

MaintainX is seeking a Product Design Manager to lead a team of product designers focused on making complex, high-stakes workflows simple, intuitive, and increasingly AI-powered for maintenance technicians, reliability engineers, and operations managers. The role involves setting creative direction, growing designers, and partnering with Product and Engineering to ensure design shapes outcomes. The manager will be close to the work and the people, accountable for both design quality and team development.

Requirements

6+ years of product design experience in B2B SaaS or enterprise platforms.
Experience shipping complex, multi-surface work.
1–3 years of experience managing product designers, including running 1:1s, giving feedback, navigating performance conversations, and helping people grow.
Strong product thinking and craft judgment.
Ability to understand customer problems, business tradeoffs, and connect design work to strategy.
Ability to create clarity for the team, resolve friction with partners early, and lead with confidence and humility.
Interest in AI-powered product experiences, both in designing for AI-first workflows and using AI tools.

Nice To Haves

Experience with frontline, mobile-first, or offline-capable product design.
Background in industrial, operations, or maintenance-adjacent domains.
Experience contributing to or scaling a design system.
Familiarity with designing for AI-powered workflows and data-rich interfaces.

Responsibilities

Own design quality across your team's product areas for web and mobile.
Guide designers through ambiguity, review work with a sharp eye, and ensure what ships is grounded in real user needs and built to a high standard.
Lead and grow a team of 4-6 product designers, including running 1:1s, driving career growth, delivering clear feedback, and building a team culture.
Be responsible for hiring, performance, and developing the next generation of design talent at MaintainX.
Translate product strategy into focused design execution, helping the team understand the 'why' behind their work.
Set a clear, directional vision for the team's focus, rooted in customer understanding and business context.
Partner closely with Product Managers and Engineering leads to align on priorities, unblock delivery, and advocate for design quality and user needs.
Raise the craft bar by contributing to design critiques, investing in the design system, and ensuring consistency and coherence.
Lead the team in adopting AI tools and practices to accelerate design work and push the quality and speed of output.
