About The Position

As a Manager, Process Engineering at Phillips 66, you will lead the process engineering discipline that supports our manufacturing operations. You will guide a team of engineering leaders and professionals who design and continuously improve the processes, equipment, and systems that keep our assets running safely, reliably, and efficiently. In this role, you will turn strategy into action, develop talent, and partner across the site to deliver projects and innovations that create lasting value. Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline
  • 6 or more years of relevant engineering experience, including significant experience in process engineering, process control, APC, or a closely related discipline in oil and gas, manufacturing, petro-chemical, or related industry
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and/or mentorship
  • Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to comply with the following: Travel up to 5%
  • Operate company vehicle on site premises and/or public roads up to 10%
  • Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and perform occasional on-call duties
  • Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet
  • Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines, around chemicals and hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat, and in harsh weather conditions
  • Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment
  • Maintain face daily for proper respirator/face mask seal (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
  • Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

Nice To Haves

  • 10 or more years of process or manufacturing engineering experience, including leading complex, multi-discipline projects and initiatives
  • 3 or more years of people leadership, mentorship, or similar management experience
  • Experience in refining, midstream, petrochemical, or other heavy industrial operations
  • Proven success establishing and governing engineering standards, specifications, and work processes across a site or business
  • Experience with process automation and control systems and related digital tools used to monitor and optimize manufacturing operations
  • Track record of building strong cross-functional partnerships, leading through ambiguity, and enabling others to make high-quality, timely decisions aligned to business goals

Responsibilities

  • Lead the site’s process engineering function by translating business strategy into clear goals, priorities, and performance expectations for your team, and by holding yourself and others accountable for delivering on commitments.
  • Build, coach, and inspire a cohesive team of process engineers and leaders, setting clear roles, providing ongoing feedback, recognizing contributions, and creating an inclusive culture where diverse perspectives are heard and valued.
  • Oversee the design, optimization, and continuous improvement of manufacturing and materials processes, including specifying process steps, equipment, and control schemes that meet safety, quality, reliability, and cost targets.
  • Sponsor and manage a portfolio of capital and improvement projects by defining scope, sequencing work, allocating resources, and monitoring schedules, risks, and performance so projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve engineering standards, specifications, and technical practices for process design, equipment selection, and process automation, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, policies, and safety requirements.
  • Use data, analytics, and structured problem-solving to make and enable timely, high-quality decisions on complex technical and business issues, balancing risk, cost, and value while empowering your team to decide at the right level.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, reliability, health and safety, and other partners to align priorities, share information early, resolve cross-functional issues, and remove barriers so teams can work together effectively across boundaries.
  • Provide steady leadership through change by clarifying direction, adapting plans as conditions evolve, guiding the team through ambiguous situations, and ensuring lessons learned are captured and built into future work.
  • Represent process engineering in site and company forums, communicating status, risks, and opportunities clearly and transparently, and influencing investment and strategy decisions with well-supported recommendations.
