About The Position

We're looking for a Manager to join our Personal Lines Underwriting team! Please note that this is a secondment role for six months duration. This hybrid role will require you to be in office three (3) days per week in one of the following offices: Toronto, ON, North York, ON, or Richmond Hill, ON.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, Marketing, Law or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of strong leadership and management experience, in a relevant field would be an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of personal lines products and systems preferred.
  • Change leadership: implement process improvements and support employees in a positive and structured way during transitions.
  • Data-driven approach; comfortable with numbers and analysis; Ability to interpret results and translate them into business decisions.
  • Must be able to monitor competitive practices, industry trends, or other developments impacting business results and make recommendations regarding corporate practices.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to foster and maintain effective professional relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • People and/or Project Management experience with strong skills in collaboration, coaching and mentoring, and proven success in team building and managing relationships with a remote team.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with insight into different perspectives and approaches.
  • Can master multiple priorities under time constraints with a sense of urgency; setting clear objectives and monitor the progress of multiple initiatives and deadlines.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Develop methods to inspire and build a highly effective and engaged team capable of meeting the current and future needs through effective leadership.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement leadership strategies, organizational structure, and processes/technology improvement initiatives.
  • Provide effective leadership by continuously keeping staff informed on initiatives and results and share responsibility for the overall performance, productivity, and engagement of team members.
  • Develop and manage effective working relationships with the Regional Managers and underwriters, as well as your counterparts across the country and across distribution channels.
  • Act as an ambassador for Corporate Personal Insurance liaising with Operations and Planning, Operational Performance, Sales and Business Development and Claims Management on planning, technical and administrative issues.
  • Play a key and active role in the selection process and hiring of qualified staff.
  • Lead by example and live our values every day.
