About The Position

As a Manager, People (Bilingual) you will represent the broader People function with a particular focus on leading employee relations, supporting performance and growth, and providing trauma-informed coaching across the organization. While this role does not have direct reports, it plays a critical leadership function through influence, guidance, and partnership with leaders and teams. Acting as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, this role supports complex and sensitive situations, including progressive performance management and employee wellbeing, by balancing accountability with care, context, and respect for lived experiences. The Manager, People supports leaders to navigate challenges in a way that fosters trust, dignity, and growth, while ensuring practices are fair, consistent, and aligned with organizational values. This is a full-time, one year position with the possibility of extension offered on a remote basis.

Requirements

  • 8 plus years of progressive human resources experience, with a strong focus on employee relations
  • A bachelor's degree in human resource management or a degree in a related field
  • Working fluency in both English and French (written and spoken)
  • Experience working with or alongside Indigenous communities, with a demonstrated understanding of cultural context and history
  • Strong understanding of multi-jurisdictional employment standards legislation and human rights obligations across Canada
  • Excellent coaching and conflict resolution skills and experience supporting complex workplace situations in a fast-paced environment
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead employee relations matters: performance concerns and progressive discipline, workplace conflict, policy interpretation, and sensitive employee situations
  • Provide trauma-informed coaching to leaders: support empathetic, culturally aware conversations, balance accountability with care, guide difficult discussions using thoughtful frameworks
  • Ensure sound Employee relationship practices: consistent, fair, and defensible, aligned with legislation and policies, grounded in inclusion and cultural respect
  • Partner with leaders on solutions: identify root causes, develop supportive action plans, and monitor progress with adjustments as needed
  • Act as a trusted resource for employees: support individuals navigating workplace concerns while fostering psychologically safe and respectful environments
  • Embed inclusive, trauma-informed practices: integrate culturally grounded and trauma-informed approaches into People Team work to promote a supportive employee experience
  • Provide employment law guidance: support leaders across the employee lifecycle to ensure compliance with applicable legislation
  • Develop and apply policies: create, refine, and implement policies with a focus on clarity, fairness, and consistent application across teams
  • Ensure compliant documentation and processes: maintain documentation and practices that meet organizational and legal standards
