About The Position

The Manager, Payroll / HR Operations role is primarily responsible for managing payroll in the US and global locations, with secondary responsibilities leading HR operational activities. The role will be responsible for full cycle processing, review, and maintenance for payroll for employees in California, other US states, and global locations. Also, this role will be instrumental in making HR operational efficiency and process improvements that enable scalability.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field, with minimum 5 years’ experience in payroll processing position; or HS diploma and minimum 10 years payroll processing
  • Prior experience processing payroll using ADP for US employees in multiple states
  • Minimum 4 years experience providing human resources support in several HR sub-functions
  • Prior management experience required
  • Strong knowledge of wage and hour laws
  • Good understanding of standard fiscal procedures
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, preferably BambooHR
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to successfully plan, organize, and multi-task responsibilities without established guidelines and procedures using independent judgment
  • Strong time management skills with high productivity
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with others
  • Strong ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience processing or reviewing international payroll preferred
  • Prior experience processing payroll in a public company setting preferred
  • Prior experience processing payroll with stock income reporting and stock administration preferred
  • Prior experience with other systems such as NetSuite are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of payroll from transactional activities to strategic planning
  • Perform all duties associated with processing bi-weekly payroll for employees in CA and other US states
  • Review Taiwan payroll processed by local accounting firm
  • Maintain, update, process employee payroll data, calculating wages and deductions, managing payroll calendars and schedules, processing wage garnishments, processing stock income reporting
  • Work closely with Director of Accounting when reviewing bi-weekly payroll
  • Reconcile payroll sub-ledgers, working closely with the Finance to resolve variances in a timely manner
  • Review payroll tax remittance and required government reporting
  • Review and process state payroll-related filings, questionnaires, inquiries
  • When payroll issues arise, prepare comprehensive recommendation for corrective actions and resolve complex payroll discrepancies
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll regulations
  • Conduct consistent ongoing payroll audits
  • Document payroll procedures and policies, considering best practices for public technology companies
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely manner
  • Other payroll duties as requested
  • Lead several HR functions such as, but not limited to, benefits administration, leave administration, compensation administration, immigration project management, or other HR operational functions
  • Manage benefits invoice reconciliation
  • Manage and administer leave of absences
  • Compile, analyze, review compensation data, while paying close attention to details and accuracy
  • Immigration project management involves handling a high volume of cases, coordinating requirements between the employee, external attorney, manager, and any other related parties
  • Lead various HR Operations activities and initiatives, making HR operational efficiency and process improvements that enable scalability
  • Support other HR functions as roles and responsibilities within the team are assigned
