The role involves managing resources through systems management, coordinating system issues, and maintaining an optimal level of productivity through efficient staffing and scheduling. The Manager evaluates the quality of patient care, develops service strategies, and monitors service levels to improve customer and patient satisfaction. They also coordinate and integrate services with other areas, maintain effective relationships with various stakeholders, and act as a liaison between medical and nursing staffs. The position facilitates evidence-based nursing, participates in shared governance councils, and ensures compliance with regulatory bodies like The Joint Commission. Responsibilities also include developing and communicating change initiatives, achieving care management targets, assisting with new service development, and performing human resources functions for staff. Budget development and adherence, along with ethical conduct, are also key aspects of this role. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care needs and principles of growth and development.
