About The Position

The YMCA of Metro Denver is seeking a passionate Manager of Out-of-School Time (OST) to lead dynamic, licensed childcare programs. This role involves overseeing operations, program development, and staff supervision to create safe, engaging, and meaningful experiences for children outside of classroom hours. The Manager will ensure programs are compliant with licensing standards, build strong relationships with families, schools, and community partners, and develop staff who are dedicated to youth development. This position is crucial for ensuring children are cared for in structured, inclusive, and engaging environments.

Requirements

  • Site Director Qualified
  • 5,460 hours of paid verifiable experience working with youth under the age of 13.
  • Knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate practice, and curriculum planning for Youth ages 5-18.
  • An interest in and concern for children and their proper care and wellbeing.
  • 2+ years of customer service experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • Experience communicating with multiple departments/initiatives and ensuring achievement of collective goals.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills that ensure business growth and sustainability.
  • Ability to be highly collaborative with internal leaders and external partners to achieve organizational goals.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to have a pro-active approach to internal systems and have an innovative mindset.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others internally and externally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
  • Experience leading teams in childcare, youth programs, or education.
  • Strong understanding of licensed childcare requirements and safety standards.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commitment to inclusion, equity, and community impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support teams across multiple OST program sites.
  • Ensure programs are safe, fun, and fully compliant with childcare licensing standards.
  • Build strong relationships with families, schools, and community partners.
  • Hire, coach, and develop staff.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and daily operations to keep programs running smoothly.
  • Create environments where every child feels welcome and supported.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality Out of School Time programming aligned with YMCA standards, SEAL practices, academic support, and a whole-child approach.
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of weekly program activities.
  • Continuously assess program effectiveness and implement improvements.
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and accountability to staff.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive team culture.
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations, YMCA policies, and school district requirements.
  • Collaborate with health consultants to ensure participant health plans are properly implemented.
  • Implement and monitor policies and procedures for safe, efficient, and effective program operations.
  • Step into staff-to-child ratios as needed to maintain safe supervision and program continuity.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with school administration, families, and community partners.
  • Ensure clear, consistent, and proactive communication with families and stakeholders.
  • Address and resolve program concerns or escalations.
  • Effectively communicate the YMCA’s mission and community impact.
  • Collaborate across departments to support a “One YMCA” approach.
  • Partner with internal leaders to support multi-department staff coordination and operational consistency.
