About The Position

Georgetown Community Hospital is an acute care hospital with 75-beds offering a broad range of inpatient, outpatient, intensive care, surgical, emergency and diagnostic services. Position Summary Schedules patient testing, procedures, and admissions while ensuring accuracy and compliance with hospital and insurance requirements. Obtains pre-certification or authorization numbers and enters them into the scheduling or registration system. Collects and verifies accurate insurance information and enters it into the system. Answers incoming phone calls and provides assistance to patients and physician offices regarding scheduling and requirements for services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required
  • Applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education
  • Prior scheduling experience in a healthcare environment is strongly preferred.
  • Medical terminology, billing, and/or collection experience preferred.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Frequent use of electronic mail, word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.
  • Ability to create, maintain and incorporate simple functions into documents, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations to support business objectives.
  • Frequently communicates complex information and interacts with management.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules patient testing, procedures, and admissions while ensuring accuracy and compliance with hospital and insurance requirements.

  • Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
  • Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management.
  • Performs and oversees scheduling, staff development, recruitment, payroll, and student engagements.
  • Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations.
  • Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage, and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensures quality standards.
  • Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
